Fuel injection pump
11339771 · 2022-05-24 · ·

A fuel injection pump includes a cylinder formed with a passage of fuel, a plunger, and a swirl flow generating par. The plunger slides along an inner wall of a sliding hole located in the cylinder and reciprocates between an uppermost point and a lowermost point to pressurize the fuel in a pressurizing chamber placed at an end of the sliding hole at a highest point. The plunger is movable downward to cause the pressurizing chamber to inhale the fuel from an intake passage in a fuel suction stroke. The intake passage is communicated to the pressurizing chamber at a lateral side of a plunger axis that is an axis of the plunger in a sliding direction. The swirl flow generating part guides the fuel to form a swirl flow around the plunger axis in the fuel suction stroke.

The barrel has a first surface configured to contact a second surface of the housing to form a groove. The groove provides fluid communication between the at least one fluid feed port of the housing and the at least one fluid receiving port of the barrel.

Roller tappet for a fuel pump

A roller tappet for a fuel pump is provided that has a guide housing which includes a drive-side and output-side section of the same external diameter, and a separate support body extending longitudinally through the guide housing. An upper face on the drive-side section carries a pin with a roller thereon. A lower face of the output-side section interacts at least indirectly with an arrangement for a pump piston. The drive-side section and the output-side section are axially spaced rings connected to one another via the support body. The support body has a first ring area with the upper face and a second ring area with the lower face. The first ring area is connected to an inner jacket of the drive-side section and the second ring area is connected to an inner jacket of the output-side section.

Arrangement for transferring force from a camshaft to an output device

A force transfer arrangement for transferring a force from a rotating camshaft to an output device, that is able to reduce the transversal force on the camshaft. The proposed connection device force transfer arrangement is configured to cause forces to act on the camshaft from substantially opposite directions which effectively produces a resultant force on the camshaft to be close to zero, or at least be reduced compared to prior art force transfer solutions. Thus, the transverse forces on the camshaft and therefore on e.g. bearings supporting the camshaft are reduced thereby the lifetime of the bearings is prolonged.

GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION FUEL PUMP WITH ISOLATED PLUNGER SLEEVE
20230304462 · 2023-09-28 ·

An improved high-pressure fuel pump for a gasoline direct injection system is provided. The fuel pump includes a pump body defining a low-pressure side, a high-pressure side, and a pumping chamber therebetween. The pump body also defines a central bore and a drain port extending from the central bore to the low-pressure side. A slip-fit sleeve is clamped within the central bore, the slip-fit sleeve including upper and lower guide ribs. A plunger is moveable within the sleeve for compressing fuel within the pumping chamber. The plunger and the sleeve define a first diametral clearance, and the guide ribs and the central bore define a second diametral clearance. Fuel diverting around the upper guide rib during pumping operations can recirculate through the drain port to the low-pressure side. To accommodate thermal expansion of the sleeve, the second diametral clearance is at least 75% of the first diametral clearance.

Multi-part roller tappet

A roller tappet, in particular for a high-pressure fuel pump, is provided that is guided in the direction of the longitudinal axis thereof in a housing receptacle and is driven translatably in the longitudinal direction by cams of a camshaft. The roller tappet has a tappet body. This tappet body has a tappet skirt, a pump piston contact point (9), and a rotatably mounted roller (4), by which the roller tappet is supported on the camshaft. The tappet body has a guide cylinder (1), which is mounted in the housing receptacle and on which the roller (4) is supported, and a cup-shaped sleeve (7) having the pump piston contact point (9), which cup-shaped sleeve is supported in the guide cylinder (1) by a radial ring (8). A cylindrical constriction (5) is formed in the guide cylinder (1) in the region of the radial ring support.

FUEL PRESSURE ESTIMATION SYSTEM

A fuel pressure estimation system estimates a fuel pressure variable on a fuel pressure in a supply pipe for an engine apparatus including an engine having a fuel injection valve, and a fuel supply device having a fuel pump that supplies the fuel in a fuel tank to the supply pipe, and includes a storage device and an execution device. The storage device stores a first mapping that receives, as an input, first input variables including a pump variable, a consumption flow rate variable on a consumption flow rate of the fuel, and a property variable on a property of the fuel, and outputs the fuel pressure variable. The execution device acquires the first input variables and estimates the fuel pressure variable by applying the first input variables to the first mapping.

VALVE ACTUATION SYSTEM FOR ENGINE AND VALVE LIFTER AND ROCKER ARM FOR SAME

A valve actuation system for an engine includes a rotatable camshaft, an injector actuation linkage, and a valve actuation linkage. The valve actuation linkage includes a valve lifter, a valve pushrod, and a rocker arm. At least one of a rocker arm center plane defined by the valve rocker arm or a lifter roller center plane defined by the valve lifter is spaced an offset distance from a pushrod axis, providing an increased contact width between an injector roller in the injector actuation linkage and one of a plurality of cam lobes of the camshaft. The valve lifter includes a fork defining a center plane spaced an offset distance from a center axis of the valve lifter. A rocker arm includes a screw bore offset relative to a rocker arm center plane.
