A fuel injector for delivering fuel to an internal combustion engine includes a nozzle having a valve needle which is movable with respect to a valve needle seat. The valve needle travels through a range of movement between a closed position and an open position to control fuel delivery through at least one nozzle outlet. The valve needle cooperates with a needle sleeve or a control member which is located in a piston guide. The valve needle is movable relative to the needle sleeve or the control member. The needle sleeve or the control member is movable relative to the piston guide.

The present invention suppresses wear of a rod or a component with which the rod is in contact. An electromagnetic suction valve mechanism (electromagnetic valve mechanism) includes a suction valve (valve body), a rod engaged with the suction valve, and a magnetic attraction force generation unit that generates a magnetic attraction force for moving the rod in an axial direction. The rod is provided with a low friction portion. The low friction portion is set to a friction coefficient such that a frictional force generated between the rod and the rod contact component with which the rod is in contact is smaller than a rotational propulsive force of the rod.

CONTROLLING A FUEL INJECTION SOLENOID VALVE

A device and a method are provided for controlling a magnetic valve which has a coil and an armature which is displaceable by magnetic force, by means of which armature a closure element is displaceable for the purposes of injecting fuel into a combustion chamber, the method includes the steps of: energizing the coil with a voltage in accordance with a first voltage profile in order to generate a first electrical current through the coil; determining a first profile as a function of a first magnetic flux and the first current; identifying, in the first profile, a first characteristic of at least one first start of displacement at which the armature begins to displace the closure element, generating a second voltage profile and energizing the coil in accordance with the second voltage profile, such that, in a second profile, as a function of a second magnetic flux and a second current, a second characteristic of a second start of displacement is more similar to a reference characteristic than the first characteristic.

Control valve bounce limiting mechanism for fuel injectors

A fuel injector control valve assembly is provided that comprises a valve actuating mechanism, a cage member that is operatively connected to the valve actuating mechanism, a poppet valve member that is operatively connected to the cage member and that defines a perimeter and a longitudinal axis, a valve sleeve member that is disposed about the poppet valve member, a shim that includes an upper surface that at least partially makes uninterrupted contact with the cage member and a lower surface that at least partially makes uninterrupted contact with the sleeve member, thereby providing a fluid seal about the perimeter of the poppet valve member, and a bounce limiting mechanism that is adjacent the shim and that is interposed between the cage member and at least one of either the poppet valve member and the valve sleeve member.
