FUEL INJECTION VALVE
A fuel injection valve includes a needle valve that controls communication between a high pressure chamber and an injection hole, a follower valve provided inside a control chamber controlled by fuel pressure inside an intermediate chamber, and an open-close valve that controls communication between a first passage and a low pressure passage and communication between a second passage and the low pressure passage. The fuel injection valve is configured to control the gradient of the fuel injection rate from the injection hole with an improved configuration.
DUAL FUEL SYSTEM HAVING DUAL FUEL INJECTOR AND ENGINE OPERATING METHOD
A dual fuel system for an internal combustion engine includes a first fuel supply of a liquid pilot fuel, a primary fuel supply of a liquid primary fuel, and a dual fuel injector. The dual fuel injector includes a spill valve fluidly connected with a plunger cavity and movable to control a start of injection and an end of injection, and an admission valve. The admission valve is movable to admit a pilot fuel into the fuel injector, such that the pilot fuel is conveyed through an outlet check to form, within a primary fuel passage fluidly connected to the plunger cavity, a segmented fuel charge of leading pilot fuel and trailing primary fuel by displacing some of the primary fuel. The liquid pilot fuel may be a higher cetane/lower octane liquid fuel, and the primary fuel may be a lower cetane/higher octane liquid fuel.
FUEL INJECTOR DRIVE SYSTEM
A fuel injection system includes a first fuel injector having a first electronically-controlled valve and a first injection valve configured to inject fuel when the first electronically-controlled valve is actuated. A second fuel injector has a second electronically-controlled valve and a second injection valve configured to inject fuel when the second electronically-controlled valve is actuated. The fuel injection system also includes a single fuel injector driver configured to actuate the first electronically-controlled valve and the second electronically-controlled valve.
Pump unit and method of operating the same
The present application relates to a pump unit for a fuel injection system. The pump unit has a low pressure fuel supply line and a high pressure fuel outlet. A pumping chamber having a plunger is operable to perform a pumping cycle comprising a pumping stroke and a filling stroke. The pump unit also includes an inlet valve having an inlet valve member movable between an open position for permitting the supply of fuel to the pumping chamber from the low pressure fuel supply line and a closed position for inhibiting the supply of fuel from the pumping chamber to the low pressure supply line. An outlet valve is provided in the high pressure fuel outlet. The pump unit also includes a means for latching the inlet valve member in its open position. The present application also relates to a method of operating a pump unit.
Fuel injector
A fuel injector includes control valve for controlling fuel pressure in a control chamber. The control valve includes a valve seat; and a valve member having a valve face for cooperating with the valve seat to control fuel pressure in the control chamber. A return line is provided for returning fuel from the control chamber. An armature connected to the valve member and an actuator is provided for actuating the armature. The armature is disposed in an armature chamber. A deflector is provided in the armature chamber to form a first sub-chamber and a second sub-chamber. The first and second sub-chambers are in fluid communication with each other via a first aperture. A pressure differential is established between the first and second sub-chambers when the valve face lifts from the valve seat promoting the flow of fuel from the second sub-chamber into the first sub-chamber through the first aperture.
Gas metering valve for a dual fuel engine
The invention relates to a gas metering valve (1) for a dual fuel engine (17), which has a displaceable closing body (6) which, in a position of resting against a valve seat (5), closes the gas metering valve (1) and, in a position of being lifted off from the valve seat (5), opens the gas metering valve (1). The gas metering valve (1) is actuatable in a gas operating mode, in which the gas metering valve (1) meters combustion gas via a gas channel (13) into an intake manifold (15) of the dual fuel engine (17), and in a liquid fuel operating mode, in which the gas metering valve (1) remains sealingly closed against the pressure prevalent in the intake manifold (15). The valve seat (5) is movably situated along a valve seat guide (4), the valve seat (5), owing to the combustion gas pressure in the gas channel (13), in the gas operating mode being pressed away from the closing body (6) against a stop (20) in the gas metering valve (1) and is kept in its operating position, and the valve seat (5) in the liquid fuel operating mode being sealingly pressed by the pressure from the intake manifold (15) against the closing body (6).
Control device for high-pressure pump
A high-pressure pump includes a plunger reciprocating in conjunction with rotation of a rotational shaft to be able to change a volume of a pressurizing chamber and a control valve having a first valve body and a second valve body disposed in a fuel suction passage that communicates with the pressurizing chamber and supplies/blocks fuel to/from the pressurizing chamber by displacing the valve body in an axial direction by switching between energization and non-energization of a coil. An ECU adjusts a fuel discharge amount of the high-pressure pump by switching a valve opening and a valve closing of the control valve by the energization control of the coil. The ECU detects movement of the valve body with respect to a drive command of the valve opening or the valve closing of the control valve and executes an actuation determination of the high-pressure pump on the basis of a detection result.
Solenoid valve for a fuel injection system, and high pressure fuel pump
There is disclosed a solenoid valve for a fuel injection system, in which solenoid valve a closing element which interacts with a valve seat in order to close and open the solenoid valve is actuated by a control pin, the control pin being formed by way of a solenoid plunger. Furthermore, a high pressure fuel pump is disclosed which has a solenoid valve of this type.
