Pressure limiting valve

A high pressure container arrangement includes a reservoir having an outer wall and an over pressure relief orifice through which high pressure fluid may flow when the fluid pressure inside the reservoir exceeds a predetermined pressure threshold. The high pressure container arrangement also includes a pressure limiting valve having a housing in which is arranged a closing member permanently biased by a spring toward a closed position and, when the pressure in the reservoir exceeds the predetermined threshold the closing member is pushed in an open position. The housing of the pressure limiting valve is integral to the wall of the reservoir.

A relief valve capable of reducing pressure of fuel in a discharge passage includes: a valve housing having a communication hole; a valve member provided in a reciprocating manner against the valve housing, and the valve member regulates a flow of the fuel between a discharge passage and a fuel chamber when the valve member is brought into contact with an inner wall formed around the communication hole and the valve member allows the flow of the fuel between the discharge passage and the fuel chamber when the valve member is separated from the inner wall; a spring that biases the valve member such that the valve member and the inner wall are in contact with each other; an adjusting pipe provided at a side opposite to the inner wall with respect to the valve member and configured to adjust biasing force of the spring; and a stopper that is formed as a different component from the adjusting pipe and that regulates movement of the valve member in a valve opening direction by abutting on the valve member.

High pressure pump

A high pressure pump includes a pressurization portion, a discharge portion, a body portion, a valve member, an urging member, valve hold member and a limiting portion. The body portion includes a relief passage, an inlet, a valve seat, and an outlet. The valve member includes a large diameter portion and a small diameter portion. The small diameter portion is located between the valve seat and the large diameter portion and has an outer diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the large diameter portion. The valve hold member surrounding and holding the large diameter portion. The limiting portion capable of limiting a motion of the valve hold member in a separation direction. According to this, a pressure in a fuel rail from extraordinarily increasing again after the relief valve is opened once.

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting operation of fuel injectors of an internal combustion engine to reduce injector ticking noise during direct injection fuel rail pressure release. The method includes first reducing a significant part of the direct injection fuel rail pressure via a mechanical high pressure pump relief valve and only if further pressure relief is required then intermittently activating the direct injector to inject in small amount of fuel. Due to the reduced frequency of activation and small pulse-widths, the impact force transmitted from injectors to cylinder head is small thereby reducing the objectionable ticking noise.

CONTROL METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, AND FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM

The invention relates to a control method for controlling a fuel injection system (10) of an internal combustion engine, wherein, wherein, in a fault situation of the fuel injection system (10), a camshaft angle of a camshaft (34) which drives a pump piston (32) of a high-pressure fuel pump (14) of the fuel injection system (10) is adjusted such that an injection time (tI) of injector valve (42) which injects the fuel from the fuel injection system (10) into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine lies in a pressure trough (50) of a pressure oscillation in a high-pressure region (16).

High-Pressure Fuel Pump

A high-pressure fuel pump has a pressure-limiting valve, which fluidically connects a high-pressure region to a low-pressure region and opens towards the low-pressure region. The pressure-limiting valve is disposed in a pressure-limiting valve bore, which is designed as a through bore through the pump body, extends from a damping region to a stepped chamber, and is closed on the side facing the damping region by a pressed-in closure.
