FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
A pressure detection unit detects a fuel pressure in high-pressure fuel passages. A drive control unit controls opening and closing of pressure adjusting valves based on a drive command signal output to the fuel injection valve. An acquisition unit acquires an inflection point of the fuel pressure detected by the pressure detection unit and an inclination of the fuel pressure after the inflection point appears, after an output of the drive command signal. A delay time computation unit computes a response delay time of the pressure adjusting valve with respect to the drive command signal for each of the first on-off valve and the second on-off valve based on the inflection point and the inclination acquired by the acquisition unit.
FUEL SYSTEM FOR REDUCING FUEL TARGETING ERRORS AND ENGINE OPERATING METHOD
Operating an engine includes injecting a first charge of liquid fuel using a first set of nozzle outlets in a fuel injector, and injecting a second charge of liquid fuel using a second set of nozzle outlets in a fuel injector. The first charge is autoignited in a first engine cycle, and the second charge is autoignited in a second engine cycle, and may be used to pilot ignite a charge of gaseous fuel. Operating the engine further includes limiting errors in targeting of the second charge of liquid fuel caused by transitioning the engine from a first combination to a second combination of speed, load, and boost, by varying an injection pressure of the liquid fuel from the first engine cycle to the second engine cycle.
FUEL INJECTION VALVE
The fuel injection valve includes a valve body having an injection hole at an end of the valve body facing in a first direction, and a needle valve provided inside the valve body and movable in an axial direction which includes the first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction. A first control valve and a second control valve control the internal pressure of a back pressure chamber provided inside the valve body, a first actuator controls the first control valve, and a second actuator controls the second control valve. The second control valve is longer than the first control valve in the axial direction. The second actuator is located away in the second direction from the first actuator. A part of the second actuator overlaps at least a part of the first actuator when viewed in a plan view along the axial direction.
FUEL INJECTION VALVE
The fuel injection valve includes a valve body having an injection hole at an end of the valve body facing in a first direction, and a needle valve provided inside the valve body and movable in an axial direction which includes both the first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction. The needle valve is driven in the axial direction by a change in internal pressure of a back pressure chamber in the valve body. The fuel injection valve includes a control valve that controls the internal pressure of the back pressure chamber, and an actuator that drives the control valve. The control valve is longer than the needle valve in the axial direction. An end of the control valve facing in the second direction and the actuator are arranged away in the second direction from a center of the valve body in the axial direction.
Fuel system for reducing fuel targeting errors and engine operating method

Fuel injector for engine
A fuel injector for an engine includes: a solenoid unit including a plurality of solenoids that can be separately controlled; a valve body having a control chamber connected with a supply throttle and a return throttle; and a plurality of armatures disposed between the solenoid unit and the valve body to be able to adjust the amount of fuel that is discharged through the return throttle by being driven by the solenoids of the solenoid unit.
Fuel injector having dual solenoid control valves
A fuel injector is disclosed. The fuel injector may have an injector body having a fuel inlet and at least one orifice. The fuel injector may also have a first check valve member. The first check valve member may be selectively movable to fluidly block a first flow of fuel from the fuel inlet to the at least one orifice. The fuel injector may have a second check valve member. The second check valve member may be selectively movable to fluidly block a second flow of fuel from the fuel inlet to the at least one orifice. The fuel injector may also have a control valve assembly. The control valve assembly may be configured to selectively operate either the first check valve or both the first check valve and the second check valve to fluidly connect the fuel inlet and the at least one orifice.
MACHINE SYSTEM AND OPERATING STRATEGY USING AUTO-POPULATION OF TRIM FILES
Operating a machine system includes triggering, based on activation of an on-board electronic control system, interrogation of electronically controlled components installed in a machine to read a plurality of electronic trim files each resident on a different one of the electronically controlled components. A data structure on an electronic storage medium in the control system is populated with the electronic trim files each time the control system is activated, such as by turning on an ignition switch. Operating the machine system also includes outputting control signals based on the electronic trim files to run the machine system based on operation of the electronically controlled components responsive to the outputted control signals.
Fluid control device for internal combustion engine
A fluid control device for an internal combustion engine, includes: plural fluid control valves each including a chamber, a first port via which fluid is introduced to the chamber, a second port via which fluid is guided out from the chamber, and a solenoid valve part opening and closing the second port with respect to the chamber; one support member for supporting and fixing the fluid control valves to a vehicle; and a branched passage having plural inlet portions communicating with the second port of the fluid control valves and an outlet portion guiding out the fluid introduced from the inlet portions, the branched passage being formed integrally with an interior of the support member. Thus, due to the branched passage being formed from the support member itself without requiring a joint member having a special shape, it is possible to cut the number of components and save installation space.
