THREE STAGE PROPORTIONAL CONTROL VALVE
20190085805 · 2019-03-21 · ·

An energize-to-close solenoid operated spool type inlet control valve for a high pressure fuel pump is variably positionable relative to a sleeve having three inlet feed ports and the inlet check valve member, to implement three stages of pump operation: limp-home, low-pressure flow from the low-pressure feed pump to the common rail, no flow to the common rail, and metered quantity of flow to the common rail. The spool valve includes an axially extending internal passage fluidly connected to a fluid volume at the front end of the spool valve, and a control port at the back end of the spool valve, selectively alignable to fluidly connect the ports. Two springs of different lengths either alone or together, bias the spool valve toward opening of the inlet check valve.

Method for starting an internal combustion engine

A method for starting an internal combustion engine with a fuel tank and a low-pressure pump which pumps gasoline out of the fuel tank at a low-pressure to a high-pressure pump that pumps the gasoline at a high-pressure to injectors of the internal combustion engine. An electronic controller is provided for controlling and/or regulating the low-pressure pump, the high-pressure pump, and the injectors. After a start pulse for the internal combustion engine, the method: checks whether a formation of vapor bubbles in the gasoline is possible on the low-pressure side during a hot start. If not possible, then the normal low-pressure is set. If possible, then a low pressure which is high enough that the formation of vapor bubbles is not possible on the low-pressure side is set, and the normal low-pressure is set after a period of time. The problem of vapor bubble formation is prevented in an inexpensive or cost neutral manner via the method.

System and a method for determining fuel injector leak

A fluid injection system includes a fluid injector assembly; a fluid conditioning module having an outlet port that is fluidly coupled to an inlet port of the fluid injector assembly; an injector assembly outlet conduit fluidly coupled to an outlet port of the fluid injector assembly and disposed downstream of the fluid injector assembly, the injector assembly outlet conduit defining a pressure measurement port and a flow-restricting orifice, the pressure measurement port being disposed upstream of the flow-restricting orifice along the direction of fluid flow through the fluid injector assembly; a pressure sensor fluidly coupled to the pressure measurement port; and a controller operatively coupled to the fluid conditioning module and the pressure sensor. The controller is configured to adjust a flowrate of a fluid through the injector assembly inlet conduit based on a pressure signal from the pressure sensor.

Fuel Injection System For An Internal Combustion Engine

The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines. Various embodiments may include a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine comprising: a high-pressure fuel pump with a pressure chamber and a pump piston; a high-pressure region downstream of the pump piston; and a valve arrangement connecting the pressure chamber to the high-pressure region. The valve arrangement includes an outlet valve and a pressure-limiting valve. The outlet valve and the pressure-limiting valve are mounted in two separate receptacle bores in a common valve housing. The receptacle bores extend along a longitudinal axis of the valve housing. The valve housing defines a central flow bore. The receptacle bores are each fluidly connected to the central flow bore by a bore intersection.

Injection device for an internal combustion engine

An injection device for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel delivery pump and a high-pressure pump which are connected to one another via a low-pressure fuel line. A high-pressure accumulator is connected to the high-pressure pump. At least one injector is connected via a high-pressure fuel line to the high-pressure accumulator. The injection device also has at least one fuel return line which is connected to the high-pressure accumulator and/or to the at least one injector. The fuel return line issues into the low-pressure fuel line which connects the fuel delivery pump and the high-pressure pump to one another. At least one air bleed valve is arranged in the course of the low-pressure fuel line or on the high-pressure pump or on a filter housing.

Fuel Injection System

The present disclosure relates to a fuel injection system. Some examples may include: a low-pressure system providing the fuel; a fuel pump; a feed region for the fuel; a pressure chamber; a low-pressure region for supplying the pressure chamber with fuel; a high-pressure region into which the fuel is delivered from the pressure chamber; an inlet valve in the pressure chamber for letting fuel from the low-pressure region into the pressure chamber; and a nonreturn valve arranged upstream of the inlet valve in the direction of flow of the fuel preventing a fuel volume not delivered into the high-pressure region from flowing back out of the pressure chamber into the low-pressure system.

HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM

A high pressure fuel pump includes: a pump body that forms a suction passage and a pressurizing chamber and slidably supports a plunger; and a control valve that opens a connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber in a suction stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a suction side for suctioning fuel into the pressurizing chamber, while the control valve controls closing timing, at which the connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber is closed by the control valve in a delivery stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a delivery side for delivering the fuel out of the pressurizing chamber. The pump body forms a release passage that is communicated with the suction passage. The release passage relieves the fuel, which is pressurized by the plunger, from the pressurizing chamber before the closing timing during the delivery stroke.
