METHOD FOR DETERMINING A STATE OF CHARGE OF A VEHICLE BATTERY OF A VEHICLE
The present invention relates to a method for determining the state of charge of a vehicle battery (150) of a vehicle, a starter relay of a starting device (100) for an internal combustion engine of the vehicle for engaging a starter pinion in a ring gear of the internal combustion engine having a first winding (121) and a second winding (122) which can be controlled independently of one another, the first winding (121) being controlled in predetermined control states and voltage values that are established in the course of these control states being determined and the state of charge of the vehicle battery (150) being determined depending on the determined voltage values.
Starting device for starting a combustion engine and handheld work apparatus having said starting device
A starting device for a combustion engine includes a housing relative to which a rope pulley, a spring housing and an entrainer can rotate about a rotation axis. A coupling unit produces a rotationally-fixed connection between the rope pulley and the spring housing in response to a rotational movement of the rope pulley in a starting direction. The spring housing has a spring receiving space for a tension spring and is connected to an entrainer by the spring. The coupling unit has a first coupling element and a second coupling element, which interact at a contact location which is at a spacing (d) to the rotation axis and is at least as large as the maximum spacing (c) of the tension spring to the rotation axis.
Systems and methods for a bidirectional decoupler for an integrated starter/generator
Methods and systems are provided for a starter/generator in a vehicle drivetrain. In one example, a system may include an integrated starter/generator (ISG) rotationally coupled to an engine crankshaft via a belt drive system, the belt drive system including a first decoupler configured to engage a shaft of the ISG in a first torque transfer direction only and a second decoupler configured to engage the shaft of the ISG in a second torque transfer direction only, the second torque transfer direction opposite the first torque transfer direction. In this way, hubloads that occur while transitioning the ISG between driving the belt drive system and being driven by the belt drive system may be reduced while a response time of the transitioning may also be reduced.
STARTER DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAME
A starting apparatus for internal combustion engines, having a drive pinion for engagement into a ring gear of the internal combustion engine, an electrical rotary actuator and an electrical linear actuator, the rotary actuator to rotate the drive pinion and the linear actuator to slide a pinion, and the electrical linear actuator having a linear-stroke magnet that has a sliding armature is moved by a retraction winding, within the retraction winding, along a sliding armature axis, having a holding winding by which the sliding armature can be held in a retracted state. The linear actuator also actuates a switching apparatus to activate the electrical rotary actuator into a second actuation stage. A second retraction winding is connected in parallel with the first retraction winding, such that the first retraction winding can be shut off by a normally closed switch while a current path through a second retraction winding is closed.
Internal-combustion-engine starting apparatus
There is provided an internal-combustion-engine starting apparatus that eliminates the restriction that the portion of the output axle at the axial-direction anti-motor side needs to be narrower than the inner diameter of an inner ring portion and that eliminates the requirement that a member for restricting the output axle from traveling toward the axial-direction anti-motor side is added as an extra component. An internal-combustion-engine starting apparatus is characterized in that the outer helical spline includes an outer ridge portion, in that an inner helical spline includes a both-side opened recess groove portion and a one-side opened recess groove portion in that the outer ridge portion engages with the one-side opened recess groove portion, and in that the axial-direction length of the inner small-diameter portion is the same as or larger than the axial-direction length of the outer ridge portion.
Freewheel and method for producing such a freewheel
The present invention relates to a freewheel (2) comprising an inner ring (30), an outer ring (28), a clamping gap (32) between the inner ring (30) and the outer ring (28), a side wall (40) for lateral limitation of the clamping gap (32) and at least one clamping element (34) in the clamping gap (32) which is biased by means of a spring element (66), wherein the spring element (66) is supported or supportable on one side on the clamping element (34) and on the other side on a support projection (70), which is formed by a supporting tongue (74) bent out of the side wall (40) and projecting into the clamping gap (32). In addition, the present invention relates to a method for producing such a freewheel (2).
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM
An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, a blower housing configured to direct cooling air to the engine block, an electric starting system, and a crankshaft configured to rotate about a crankshaft axis. The electric starting system includes an electric motor and an energy storage device located within the blower housing. The energy storage device is electrically coupled to the electric motor to power the electric motor. When the starter motor is activated, the electric starting system rotates the crankshaft to rotate the engine for starting.
Vehicle engine starter control systems and methods
A vehicle propulsion system includes an engine configured to be selectively activated to provide torque to propel the vehicle and a starter module coupled to the engine and configured to start the engine from an inactive state. The starter module includes a brushless electric machine to generate an output torque to crank start the engine. The starter motor also includes a pinion gear coupled to the electric machine, where the pinion gear is actuatable to selectively engage a cranking input of the engine. A controller assembly is programmed to cause actuation of the pinion gear to engage the cranking input of the engine and transfer a cranking torque to activate the engine.
