Vehicle initiated remote engine start for battery charge maintenance and driver initiated remote engine start for vehicle preconditioning having battery charge maintenance priority
One method for remotely starting an engine of a vehicle includes notifying, from the vehicle, a remote user of the vehicle that a battery of the vehicle has a charge level below a predetermined threshold. This method includes remotely starting the engine to charge the battery with energy from the engine upon receiving from the user a confirmation to start the engine. Another method includes remotely starting the engine in response to a command, from the user, to start the engine for preconditioning the vehicle. This method assesses charge level of the battery following engine start and adjusts engine-on time and vehicle settings to prioritize battery charge maintenance versus preconditioning based on the charge level.
System for automatically controlling shut-off of vehicle and method therefor
A system for automatically controlling shut-off of a vehicle includes: a sensor that senses existence of a user in the vehicle; and a vehicle controlling device that determines whether the vehicle is in an idle state, determines whether a user exists in the vehicle based on a sensing value of the sensor, controls the vehicle to automatically shut off, and notifies a user of a vehicle state.
Vehicle Control Device and Vehicle Control Method
Provided is a vehicle control device with which improved fuel economy and lowered exhaust gas emissions can be effectively achieved without adversely affecting the driver when traveling while following a leading vehicle. The present invention has: a following-determination means that, during travel while following a leading vehicle, determines, on the basis of the speed of the host vehicle, the speed of the leading vehicle, and the distance from the leading vehicle, whether the host vehicle will be able to follow the leading vehicle by coasting; and an idle stop determination means that, when the following-determination means has determined that the host vehicle will be able to follow the leading vehicle by coasting, and the driving/travel state of the host vehicle satisfies other traveling idle stop criteria, determines that a traveling idle stop should be performed; and is provided with a determination criteria updating means for updating the determination criteria for the idle stop determination means in regard to criteria such as the leading vehicle characteristics, road surface conditions, and weather. In the event that it has been determined, from the determination conditions that have been updated in regard to the leading vehicle characteristics, etc., that following by coasting is possible, a control to shut off the on-board engine is performed.
METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR ADAPTIVELY SWITCHING AN ENGINE STARTING DEVICE
A method and system for operating a vehicle that includes a plurality of engine starting devices and an internal combustion engine is described. In one example, the method selects one of a plurality of engine starting devices to start an engine based on durability metrics of each of the plurality of engine starting devices. In addition, engine starting device selection may be based on calibration parameters that are generated via a server that is external to the vehicle.
Cloud-enabled vehicle autostart monitoring
In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus is provided that includes a database configured to store one or more vehicle status parameters of a vehicle and one or more secured space status parameters of a secured space. The apparatus further includes a server-based processor operatively coupled or connected to the database and configured to receive one or more of the one or more vehicle status parameters and one or more of the one or more secured space status parameters. The server-based processor is further configured to determine, based on at least one of the one or more vehicle status parameters and at least one of the one or more secured space status parameters whether to change a state of the vehicle.
NON-STARTING ENGINE REMOTE DIAGNOSTIC
An engine diagnostic system includes an engine and a control system having a controller operatively connected to the engine. A monitoring system has a measurement device operatively connected to the engine. A diagnostic system is operatively connected to the engine. A communication system is configured to send and receive data from a remote location. The diagnostic system is configured to implement a non-starting engine diagnostic procedure, at least a portion of which is performed while the engine is cranking, and to transmit data generated during the engine diagnostic procedure to the remote location through the communication system.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A VEHICLE START-STOP SYSTEM
A control system and method are described for controlling a vehicle stop-start system having a stop stage in which an engine of a host vehicle is automatically stopped and a start stage in which the host vehicle engine is automatically restarted after the stop stage. The control system includes an interface configured to receive an input signal including traffic condition information, wherein the input signal includes a vehicle-to-x communication signal or a sensor signal from a host vehicle sensor adaptable to monitor a traffic condition. The control system also includes a controller configured to generate a control signal operative to automatically initiate the start stage of the vehicle stop-start system based on a determination that the traffic condition information of the input signal indicates an impending change in a traffic condition.
Remote startup system, terminal, vehicle, and remote startup method
A remote startup system includes a terminal; a center server configured to communicate with the terminal and receive a startup request from the terminal; and a vehicle on which a driving device is mounted, the vehicle being configured to communicate with the center server, receive the startup request from the center server, and start up the driving device, wherein at least one of the center server, the terminal, and the vehicle includes a direct communication permission unit configured to permit direct communication in a case where the communication between the terminal and the center server or between the center server and the vehicle is disrupted, the direct communication being transmission or reception of information on the startup of the driving device based on the startup request, the direct communication being performed between the terminal and the vehicle directly without passing through the center server.
Remote starter adapter for use with a communication device
Implementations provide techniques for remote starter adapter for use with a communication device. In one implementation, a system comprising a memory and an adapter coupled, operatively coupled to the memory, having an interface to connect to a remote starter. The adapter is to receive, via a wireless connection, a probe request from a communication device, the probe request comprising a command data structure. It is determined whether to change a status of an indicator based on the command data structure. Responsive to changing the statue of the indicator, a signal associated with the adapter is generated. Thereupon, the signal is transmitted, via the interface, to an input circuit to activate the remote starter.
CONTROL DEVICE OF VEHICLE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CONTROL DEVICE
The control device of a vehicle includes a position estimating part configured to estimate a position of the vehicle, and a power output part configured to control the internal combustion engine and the electric motor to output power for running use. The power output part is configured to determine a startup position of the internal combustion engine of the vehicle when the vehicle exits from a low emission zone requesting the internal combustion engine be stopped so that startup positions of internal combustion engines of a plurality of vehicles are dispersed at surroundings of the low emission zone.
