Ignition coil for internal combustion engine and manufacturing method thereof
A first filler resin is disposed to cover at least an outer peripheral side of a secondary spool and a secondary coil. The second filler resin is filled inside a case and seals a cover sealant which includes a primary coil, secondary spool, a secondary coil, a center core, an outer core and the first filler resin. The connector protrudes to an outside of the case. The case has a fixing portion. The second filler resin has a lower elasticity than the first filler resin. The ignition coil is manufactured by filling the first resin inside the case, and filling the second resin after the first resin is cured.
Internal combustion engine ignition device
Provided is an internal combustion engine ignition device capable of preventing an output signal level of a drive circuit from changing sharply when shifting from a normal ignition operation mode to a protection operation mode while reducing the cost of dedicated components and the like. An internal combustion engine ignition device of the present invention includes a first differential circuit for outputting a drive signal in a first mode and a second differential circuit for outputting a drive signal in a second mode, where the first differential circuit and the second differential circuit each include a transistor and are configured such that a drive current for supplying the drive signal flows through the transistor which is common between the first mode and the second mode.

IGNITION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An ignition device for an internal combustion engine includes a switching circuit and a control circuit. The control circuit monitors a voltage level inputted to a switching device which is installed in the switching circuit and connected to a primary winding of an ignition coil. The control circuit includes an overvoltage protection circuit which outputs an energization inhibit signal to inhibit energization of the switching device when the monitored voltage level is higher than an overvoltage threshold level. When the monitored voltage level exceeds the overvoltage threshold level in an output duration in which the energization control signal is outputted, the overvoltage protection circuit stops output of the energization inhibit signal until the output duration expires. This enables the switching device to be protected from damage and an ignition operation to be executed at a correct timing to eliminate a risk of damage to the internal combustion engine.
Circuit and method for controlling a coil current during a soft shut down
A current control circuit for an ignition system (i.e., igniter current limiter) is disclosed. The current control circuit can reduce a coil current over a soft shut down (SSD) period using an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) that is controlled by a negative feedback loop, which controls the current limit of the IGBT according to a SSD profile. In order to prevent an unwanted current rise during the soft shut down period, the current control circuit compares a gate voltage of the IGBT to a reference signal and based on the comparison can enable the SSD profile to include a fast ramp. The fast ramp quickly lowers the current limit of the IGBT so that the coil current equals the current limit and can be controlled by the negative feedback loop.
Ignition apparatus for internal combustion engine
In an ignition apparatus, a deterioration determination circuit performs a deterioration determination task of (i) monitoring an absolute increase in a temperature parameter during a predetermined deterioration detection period that has been started since an energization command signal being inputted to a control circuit, and (ii) performing a comparison between the absolute increase in the temperature parameter and a predetermined deterioration detection threshold to thereby determine whether a level of deterioration of a switching circuit is within an acceptable level.
