A control and evaluation unit controls the light sources such that the scattered light is detected in a wavelength selective manner by the detectors.
WIND TURBINE ROTOR BLADE ASSEMBLY FOR REDUCED NOISE
A rotor blade assembly of a wind turbine includes a rotor blade having an aerodynamic body with an inboard region and an outboard region. The inboard and outboard regions define a pressure side, a suction side, a leading edge, and a trailing edge. The inboard region includes a blade root, whereas the outboard region includes a blade tip. The rotor blade also defines a chord and a span. Further, the inboard region includes a transitional region of the rotor blade that includes a maximum chord. Moreover, a chord slope of the rotor blade in the transitional region ranges from about −0.10 to about 0.10 from the maximum chord over about 15% of the span of the rotor blade. In addition, a slope of a change in the chord in the outboard region at a peak from concave to convex or vice versa is greater than about −0.03

Provided is a method for manufacturing a shell of a wind turbine blade having improved leading edge erosion protection, wherein the method includes the steps of: (a) providing a preform of the shell, (b) providing a protective cover for protection of the shell, (c) arranging the protective cover at a portion of a leading edge of the shell, so that an erosion protected shell is obtained, and (d) casting the erosion protected shell, so that the shell of the wind turbine blade having the improved erosion protection is obtained. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the wind turbine blade and to a shell, a wind turbine blade and a wind turbine.
Turbines and associated components, systems and methods
Turbines and associated components, systems, and methods are described. In some embodiments, the turbine blades and turbines are configured to convert kinetic energy present in fluid (e.g., water) to other forms of energy (e.g., in a hydrokinetic energy system in a river or ocean) relatively efficiently and/or at relatively low cut-in speeds. The turbine blades may have a shape and/or include structural features that contribute at least in part to relatively high efficiency and/or relatively low cut-in speeds. In some embodiments, the turbine blades have a geometry similar to the geometry of a maple seed.
Noise Reduction Surface Treatment for Airfoil
The present invention relates to airfoils having surface treatments to reduce trailing edge noise. The surface treatment is designed to reduce trailing edge noise by modifying the boundary layer turbulence as it approaches the trailing edge. The surface treatment accomplishes its function by breaking up spanwise-oriented turbulence approaching the trailing edge, thereby reducing the spanwise correlation lengthscales; deflecting the boundary layer turbulence away from the edge; and/or creating spanwise vortices or instability waves to reduce the turbulence-edge interaction.
WIND TURBINE ROTOR BLADE CONFIGURED FOR REDUCED TRAILING EDGE NOISE
Wind turbine rotor blade with reduced trailing edge noise A wind turbine rotor blade is described, the rotor blade extending in a spanwise direction between a root end and a tip end, and extending in a chordwise direction between a leading edge and a trailing edge. The rotor blade comprises a series of serrations projecting from the trailing edge, each serration extending from a base to a tip to define a length of the serration. The rotor blade also comprises a respective distinct set of fins associated with, and arranged adjacent to, each of the serrations, each fin projecting from a surface of the blade and extending between a leading end and a trailing end to define a length of the fin. Each set of fins comprises multiple fins whose trailing ends are in spanwise alignment with, and are located at or upstream of, the base of the serration associated with the set. For each set of fins, each fin of the set has a greater length than the serration associated with the set, and the trailing end of at least one fin lies between spanwise edges of the serration associated with the set.
Aerodynamic structure
Provided is an aerodynamic structure for mounting to a surface of a wind turbine rotor blade, which aerodynamic structure includes a plurality of rectangular comb elements and/or a plurality of angular comb elements, wherein a comb element includes comb teeth arranged in a comb plane that subtends an angle to the surface of the rotor blade. The embodiments further describe a wind turbine rotor blade including such an aerodynamic structure.
