Reusable harvested bale wrapping material
10787335 · 2020-09-29 · ·

The current disclosure involves the arrangement and efficient deployment of self-adhering flexible sheet material in individual segments to encircle a bale of harvested material and isolate it from the wind, precipitation, and other elements as it remains in the field following the formation of the bale attendant with harvesting of the crop, until collected for further processing. For use with harvested crops such as cotton or hay, the individual wrapping segments further comprise adhering members, which cause a portion of a wrapping segment, generally found at what is considered a trailing end during a wrapping cycle, to releasably attach to adhering members on an opposite surface of the same wrapping segment.

NEW NET REPLACEMENT FILM

A prestretched polyethylene film is provided having a longitudinal degree of prestretching in the range of from 100% to 400% and a remaining longitudinal elongation capability in the range of from 100% to less than 300% as determined according to ASTM D882. The film comprises at least 25% by weight of a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) substantially free from long chain branching (LCB) and having a density below 915 kg/m.sup.3. The film is particularly useful as a net replacement film in the baling of compressed bulk material, such as silage, and may offer to users improved flexibility and reliability and/or increased yield.

Wrapping materials for solid objects

Improved object wrapping materials exhibiting a number of beneficial properties to overcome prior deficiencies are provided. Such properties include the inclusion of a separation interface overlay that allows for greater rigidity at the leading and trailing edges of such wraps. Also, the inclusion of shear-reducing wrap material portions is described, as well as recoil reduction structures within the leading edge regions. Furthermore, core adhesive additions allow for greater resiliency to the base wrap material as it unwinds therefrom, reducing potential waste wrap products by permitting greater amounts of wrap materials in use. Other considerations include the ability, through proper configuration designs, to position a wrap separation indicator within a certain range of distances from the trailing edge, thereby providing greater reliability of wrap application device disengagement during wrap application. Such benefits are thus supplied individually and in tandem for improved versatility and utility of such wrap materials.

Multi-layer film

The present invention concerns a multi-layer film comprising at least five layers, with two outer layers, two intermediate layers and one core layer, wherein the core layer comprises an ethylene copolymer having a density between 0.910 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cm3, the intermediate layers comprise an ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between >0.915 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cm.sup.3, wherein further the first outer layer comprises between 65 wt. % and 93 wt. % of a first ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between >0.915 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cm.sup.3 and between 7 wt. % and 35 wt. % of a second ethylene copolymer having a density between >0.925 g/cm.sup.3 and 0.945 g/cm3 based on the total weight of polymers of the layer, wherein further the second outer layer comprises between 35 wt. % and 65 wt. % of a first ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between >0.915 g/cm.sup.3 and 0.925 g/cm.sup.3 and between 35 wt. % and 65 wt. % of a second ethylene copolymer having a density between 0.850 g/cm.sup.3 and <0.915 g/cm.sup.3 based on the total weight of the polymers of the layer.

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A BALE WRAPPING DEVICE

A system and method for automatic wrapping bales in a bale wrapper, including placing a bale on a loading table and performing a wrapping cycle. The wrapping cycle including rotating a wrapping hoop to apply a wrapping material to a bale surface, moving a bale pushing device from a first position toward a second position to push the bale through the wrapping hoop, dispensing from a first material applicator and a second material applicator, determining presence of the wrapping material, by a sensor on the wrapping hoop, adjusting based on the determining, a ratio of moving speed to rotational speed of the wrapping hoop, to apply a predetermined amount of wrapping material independent of the presence of wrapping material dispensing, continuing to move the bale pushing device until the second position is reached, stopping the rotation of the wrapping hoop, and moving the bale pushing device to the first position.
