A system and method are provided for controlling a wind turbine. Accordingly, a controller of the wind turbine detects a transient grid event and generates a torque command via a drive-train-damper control module. The torque command is configured to establish a default damping level of a torsional vibration resulting from the transient grid event. The controller also determines at least one oscillation parameter relating to the torsional vibration and determines a target generator torque level based thereon. The target generator torque level corresponds to an increased level of damping the torsional vibration relative to the default damping level.
LOAD CONTROL METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WIND TURBINE GENERATOR SYSTEM
A load control method and a load control apparatus for a wind turbine generator system are provided, and the load control method includes: obtaining feature parameters of the wind turbine generator system for load prediction; obtaining a load estimation value of the wind turbine generator system by inputting the obtained feature parameters into a virtual load sensor; adjusting a control strategy of the wind turbine generator system based on the obtained load estimation value. A controller and a computer readable storage medium storing a computer program are further included. With the load control method and apparatus for the wind turbine generator system, a trained virtual load sensor can be used to realize real-time monitoring of the load of the on-site wind turbine generator system, and a reference for adjusting the control strategy can be provided according to the load.

A wind turbine drive control device according to one aspect of the present invention is a wind turbine drive control device for controlling a plurality of drive devices for moving two structures included in a wind power generation device relative to each other, the wind turbine drive control device including: an obtaining unit for obtaining a plurality of information items related to loads occurring between each of the plurality of drive devices and one of the two structures that receives forces generated by the plurality of drive devices; and a control unit for controlling the plurality of drive devices in such a manner that, in a state where each of the plurality of drive devices is controlled to generate a predetermined braking force, the braking force of at least one first drive device among the plurality of drive devices is increased, based on the plurality of information items.

Embodiments herein determine performance parameters for a balance of plant estimator of a power plant controller configured to control a renewable power plant comprising a plurality of power generating units, wherein the balance of plant estimator is configured to provide an internal power loss estimation of the renewable power plant. The embodiments include providing at least one first pair of associated first and second power values in a first power range, providing at least one second pair of associated first and second power values in a second power range, determining a representative of the first pair, and determining a representative of the second pair in accordance with predetermined rules, and calculating a first set of performance parameters using the representatives of the first and second pairs of associated first and second power values.
System and method for protecting wind turbines from extreme and fatigue loads
A method for protecting a wind turbine from extreme and fatigue loads associated with high wind speed events includes receiving, via a wind turbine condition estimator programmed in a turbine controller of the wind turbine, operating data indicative of current wind turbine operation. Further, the method includes determining, via the wind turbine condition estimator, a plurality of estimated wind turbine conditions at the wind turbine by solving a control algorithm having one or more equations using the operating data. The estimated wind turbine conditions include, at least, an estimated wind speed at the wind turbine and a loading proxy of the wind turbine. As such, the method includes implementing, via the turbine controller, a corrective action only when each of the estimated wind turbine conditions indicates that one or more loading conditions of the wind turbine exceeds a predetermined limit.

Synchronizing a plurality of geographically-associated fluid turbines includes receiving first signals indicative of a phase of a rotational cycle of first rotating blades of a first turbine configured to generate a downstream fluid flow; receiving second signals indicative of a phase of a rotational cycle of second rotating blades of a second turbine configured to receive at least a portion of the downstream fluid flow and generate a differential power output; determining from the first and second signals that greater aggregate power output is achievable through blade phase coordination; determining a phase correction between the first and second rotating blades based on the first and second signals to achieve the greater aggregate power output; calculating coordinating signals based on the phase correction; and outputting the coordinating signals to impose the phase correction.

DC CHOPPER FOR MMC CELL WITH INTEGRATED CHOPPER RESISTOR
This disclosure proposes a topology that integrates a DC chopper into the Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) cells of a power converter. The integrated DC chopper may include chopper resistors that may also be advantageously integrated into a heat sink for a power module comprising at least the power transistors of the MMC cell. Embodiments herein also describe a method for using an MMC cell's IGBTs and chopper resistors for providing a safe discharge of both cell capacitors and DC-link capacitors in different operating conditions.
FLOATING WIND TURBINE PLATFORM CONTROLLED TO OPTIMIZE POWER PRODUCTION AND REDUCE LOADING
A method for controlling an inclination of a floating wind turbine platform to optimize power production, or to reduce loads on the turbine, tower, and platform, or both, includes receiving data associated with the inclination of the floating wind turbine platform and wind speed and direction data. An angle of difference between the turbine blade plane and the wind direction is determined, where the angle of difference has a vertical component. A platform ballast system is then caused to distribute ballast to reduce the vertical component to a target angle chosen to optimize power production, or reduce turbine, tower, and platform loads, or both.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A WIND TURBINE
There is provided a method of controlling a wind turbine on starting or running up the wind turbine before the wind turbine is connected to an electrical supply grid or before the wind turbine is connected to the electrical energy supply grid again. The wind turbine has a rotor having a rotor arresting means, at least one rotor blade and at least one blade angle detection sensor for each rotor blade for detecting the blade angle of the rotor blade. The blade angle of the at least one rotor blade is detected by means of the blade angle detection sensor. Unlocking of the rotor arresting means is blocked until the detected at least one blade angle is within a predetermined angle range. In that way it is possible to ensure that the rotor arresting means is released only when the blades are for example in the feathered position.
