Methods of making such compressor components via additive manufacturing processes are also provided.

THERMAL AND SOUND OPTIMIZED LATTICE-CORED ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED COMPRESSOR COMPONENTS

A light-weight, high-strength insulating compressor component formed via additive manufacturing is provided. The component may have at least one interior region comprising a lattice structure that comprises a plurality of repeating cells. A solid surface is disposed over the lattice structure. The interior region comprising the lattice structure minimizes or reduces transmission of at least one of thermal energy, sound, or vibrational energy through the component. Methods of making such compressor components via additive manufacturing processes are also provided.

A scroll compressor is provided. The scroll compressor may include a fixed scroll including a fixed wrap, and an orbiting scroll including an orbiting wrap coupled to the fixed wrap to form a pair of compression chambers. An entire cross-sectional area of bypass holes formed at a compression chamber with a larger volume reduction gradient between the compression chambers may be formed to be larger than an entire cross-sectional area of bypass holes formed at the other compression chamber to prevent over-compression at the compression chamber with the larger volume reduction gradient, thereby enhancing an entire efficiency of the compressor.

Scroll compressor including oldham coupling having keys that are slidingly received in slots of a non-orbiting scroll and/or an orbiting scroll

A compression mechanism can include a first scroll member, a second scroll member, and an Oldham coupling. The first scroll member can include a base plate. The second scroll member can meshingly engaged with the first scroll member, and include a first radially extending slot. The Oldham coupling can include a ring portion disposed about the base plate and a first radially extending key portion disposed in the first radially extending slot. The ring portion and the key portion can include a pair of upper surfaces and a pair of lower surfaces. At least one pair of upper surfaces or lower surfaces can be substantially coplanar.

In a scroll machining method, a scroll has a disc-like end plate and a scroll wall extending from a first side surface of the disc-like end plate, and the scroll is driven to rotate around a center axis C of the scroll, and a first cutter machines a side wall surface of the scroll wall while the scroll is rotating. The first cutter is a non-rotary cutter. When the scroll is machined, the scroll rotates around its center axis, and the first cutter does not rotate around its axis, thereby improving the scroll's machining precision and machining efficiency.

A fixed scroll compressor body includes a scroll compressor body casting. The casting has a central body portion having a plate-like base with a spiral scroll rib projecting from the base at a right angle thereto. The spiral scroll rib includes a volume between the spiraled ribs for the compressing of refrigerant. The spiral scroll rib spirals from a central region of the plate-like base to an outer wall of the central body portion. The casting further includes a first inward-protruding portion that protrudes from the outer wall into the volume. A distance that the first inward-protruding portion protrudes into the volume is greater than a thickness of the first inward-protruding portion such that removal of the first inward-protruding portion results in a first intake opening in the outer wall. The first intake opening provides a path for a flow of refrigerant into the volume.
