AIR-ROOT PRUNING PROPAGATION TRAY
20190200539 · 2019-07-04 ·

A propagation tray for growing a plurality of plug plants in bounded transplantable growing media has two spaced apart aperture plates. The plug plants are held loosely in the apertures in a top plate while retained at the apertures in the bottom plate over air cells associated with and under the apertures in the bottom plate. The air cells provide a volume into which roots from the plug plant may grow, and the air cells have at least one port for drainage and/or ventilation and toward which roots are guided to be air pruned. The propagation tray maximizes air flow around the plug for air pruning of roots, while minimizing contact of the plug with the structures on the tray to reduce the formation of root defects.

Method of manufacturing a plant receptacle as well as a plant receptacle

Method of manufacturing a plant receptacle wherein the following steps are performed: a) a PLA thread is co-extruded with a flexible aliphatic polyester, said flexible aliphatic polyester comprising 10 wt % to 30 wt % bamboo material, such that the flexible aliphatic polyester covers the PLA thread, thereby creating a weldable biodegradable thread; b) using said weldable biodegradable thread in a woven or non-woven process, making a permeable sheet material; c) continuously forming said sheet material into a continuous receptacle, by bringing the side edges of said sheet material into contact and welding said side edges together; d) cutting said continuous receptacle in predetermined lengths thereby creating separate plant receptacles.

Bottomless in-ground garden-plant watering-well with removable twist-ring
10314247 · 2019-06-11 ·

An in-ground plant container with watering-well that is open at both ends and is functional and decorative. The above-ground portion of this present embodiment has a circular watering-well bowl that is surrounded by a removal-able twist-ring rim that is both functional and decorative. The twist-ring along with several aspects of this embodiment work together to keep the plant container's watering-well bowl above ground-level. The bottom, below-ground portion, has vertical fins to prevent lateral rotation of plant container from repeated twist-ring removal and re-attachment; and two attached horizontal flanges also help to prevent upward and downward movement. The non-organic watering-well bowl replaces the organic soil-watering-well. This in-ground plant container with watering-well is for conserving water, and the containment of water contaminated by pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.

SOIL MODULE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF

A self-contained soil module, the soil module including a biodegradable outer frame forming the shape of the soil module, a biodegradable wrapping disposed within the biodegradable outer frame, a soil composition contained within the biodegradable wrapping and at least one plant seed of at least one type of plant disposed within the soil module.

A biodegradable layered composite includes at least a first layer and at least a second layer. The first layer of the biodegradable layered composite includes a paper layer having a top surface opposite a substantially planar and parallel bottom surface. The second layer of the biodegradable layered composite includes a non-woven polymer layer having a top surface opposite a substantially planar and parallel bottom surface. The non-woven polymer layer is bonded to the paper layer, forming the biodegradable layered composite. The biodegradable layered composite allows for at least one root of at least one seed to penetrate and grow through both of the paper layer and the non-woven polymer layer of the biodegradable layered composite.

BIODEGRADABLE URN PLANTING SYSTEM
20190038495 · 2019-02-07 · ·

The biodegradable urn planting system, also called a LIVING URN, is an apparatus capable of rapid degradation in soil that the user can fill with cremated remains, a pH neutralizing and sodium diluting material, soil, planting mix, wood chips, and a living plant (seedling or bare root stock). When one loses a loved one, it is often difficult to discern what to do with the remains (be they human or animal). Many towns and cities do not allow for burial, and storage of cremated remains can be problematic. The present invention seeks to provide a meaningful and tangible way for one to remember the loved one when the cremated remains are buried with a seedling that may be drop shipped and is appropriate for the environment of use. Thus, the seedling grows into a tree, providing comfort and a reminder of the deceased.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AIRBORNE DISSEMINATION AND IMPLANTATION OF SEEDS
20190021236 · 2019-01-24 ·

This invention relates to a method and apparatus for the airborne dissemination and implantation of seeds utilizing an aerodynamic seed delivery apparatus with built-in nutrients, anti-pest, and anti-fungal properties that can be disseminated rapidly from an airborne platform. The velocity of impact and depth of penetration into specific soil types by the delivery apparatus can be controlled up to a terminal velocity kinetic energy by exploiting a specified drag coefficient, mass, and altitude of release. The seeds are delivered and imbedded into the soil at the optimal depth and orientation to maximize germination rates, since seed orientation has a pronounced effect on germination and sprout mortality rates. Flight paths for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) utilized for dissemination can be automated to adjust coordinates based on wind vectors, terrain elevation data, and soil permeability data to efficiently achieve a desired penetration depth across a specified geographic area.
