The compression mechanism comprises an orbiting scroll and a non-orbiting scroll comprising a non-orbiting scroll end plate and forms a series of fluid chambers comprising an intermediate compression chamber. An exhaust communication space is provided on the second side of the non-orbiting scroll end plate, and the non-orbiting scroll end plate is provided with a pressure relief port which makes at least one intermediate compression chamber be in selective fluid communication with the exhaust communication space. An end plate surface on the first side of the non-orbiting scroll end plate is provided with an exhaust groove which is in communication with the pressure relief port, the pressure relief port can be in fluid communication with the at least one intermediate compression chamber through the exhaust groove.
SPRING LOADED SLEEVE VALVE WITH CONTROLLED CLOSING FORCE
A sleeve valve includes an inlet port and an outlet port. A sleeve is movable to close flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. The sleeve valve has a sleeve biased to an open position at which it allows flow from the inlet port to the outlet port by a spring. Pressure in a pressure chamber urges the sleeve to a closed position at which it blocks flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. A line pressure conduit communicates the fluid chamber into the pressure chamber. Pressurized air is supplied to the pressure chamber through a selectively closed valve. The selectively closed valve is opened to allow the flow of high pressure air from a pressure source into the pressure chamber to move the sleeve to a closed position. A bleed air system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.
POWER ASSISTED ENGINE START BLEED SYSTEM
A system for bleeding air from a core flow path of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. In various embodiments, the system includes a bleed valve having a bleed valve inlet configured to receive a bleed air from a first access point to the core flow path and a bleed valve outlet; and an air motor having a first air motor inlet configured to receive the bleed air from the bleed valve outlet and a first air motor outlet configured to exhaust the bleed air, the air motor configured to pump the bleed air from the core flow path of the gas turbine engine.
Bleed air extraction device for a gas turbine engine
The invention relates to a bleed air extraction device for a turbomachine, which has: an axial compressor, formed in a flow path and having at least one compressor stage, which comprises a rotor and a stator, and a bleed air duct, which is provided and designed to guide a bleed air flow branched off from the flow path of the axial compressor. In this case, the bleed air duct comprises an inlet opening, which is formed downstream of a stator of the axial compressor in the radially outer flow path boundary, an axially forward wall adjoining the inlet opening, and an axially rearward wall adjoining the inlet opening. Guide means are provided, which are provided and designed for the purpose of guiding at least a portion of the bleed air flow branched off from the flow path in the direction of the axially forward wall of the bleed air duct.
BOOSTER COMPRESSOR WITH SPEED CHANGE SYSTEM
A gas turbine engine includes a main engine compressor section. A booster compressor changing a pressure of airflow received from the main engine compressor section to a pressure desired for a pneumatic system. The booster compressor operates at airflow conditions greater than a demand by the pneumatic system. A speed change system driving the booster compressor at speeds corresponding to a demand of the pneumatic system. A bleed air system for a gas turbine engine and a method of controlling engine bleed airflow are also disclosed.
ALTITUDE COMPENSATING BLEED VALVE
A valve includes a housing with a mounting portion, a venting portion, and a cap portion. The valve also includes a piston in the housing with a shaft, a disc, and a flange, the piston being moveable between a closed position and an open position. The valve also includes a vessel that is in contact with the cap portion and the flange wherein fluid pressure contained in the vessel biases the piston into one of the opened position and the closed position.
Controlling method and system for compressed air supply to a pneumatic network, in particular in an aircraft
A system for supplying compressed air to a pneumatic network includes a load compressor, an air supply and a power shaft driving the load compressor. The system also includes in an air outlet of such load compressor, a connecting channel connected, on the one side, with a channel connected with the pneumatic network and, on the other side, with an air discharge conduct towards an exhaust nozzle. Air flow rate bleed valves are controlled by a processing unit via servo-loops as a function of the pressure sensors and the speed sensor.
Bleed valve
An apparatus for use in a gas turbine engine is disclosed comprising a bleed valve and an intermediate valve. In use the bleed valve is exposed to a source of pressurised air, and the bleed valve is movable between an open position, in which the bleed valve permits a flow of the pressurised air through the bleed valve and a closed position, in which the bleed valve does not permit a flow of the pressurised air through the bleed valve. The intermediate valve is operatively connected to the bleed valve and configured to selectively open and close the bleed valve, wherein the intermediate valve is configured in a mode of operation to close the bleed valve based on the pressurised air within the bleed valve exceeding a predetermined threshold.
