Vacuum pump
A vacuum pump which suppresses occurrence of deposition caused by an exhaust gas is obtained. The vacuum pump includes: a pump portion including a shaft portion, a rotor disposed on an outer peripheral side of the shaft portion, and a stator disposed on the outer peripheral side of the rotor; a channel of the exhaust gas from the pump portion to an outlet port; and a shielding portion which suppresses contact of the exhaust gas with the shaft portion in the channel. Further, an end portion of the shielding portion has a surface opposed to the rotor.
CELL SEPARATION USING MICROCHANNEL HAVING PATTERNED POSTS
A micro flow device for separating or isolating cells from a bodily fluid or other liquid sample uses a flow path where straight-line flow is interrupted by a pattern of transverse posts. The posts are spaced across the width of an expanded collection chamber region in the flow path, extending between the upper and lower surfaces thereof; they have rectilinear surfaces, being curved in cross-sections, e.g. circular or tear-drop shaped, and are randomly arranged so as to disrupt streamlined flow. The device is oriented so that its lower surface is aligned at about 45? to the horizontal. Sequestering agents, such as Abs, which are attached to surfaces of the collection region via a hydrophilic coating, preferably a permeable hydrogel containing isocyanate moieties, are highly effective in capturing cells or other targeted biomolecules while the remainder of the liquid sample exits horizontally.
AIRCRAFT ENGINE SEAL CARRIER INCLUDING ANTI-ROTATION FEATURE
A seal configuration for an aircraft engine includes a ring shaped sealing component defining an axis, a carrier disposed radially outward of the ring shaped sealing component and supporting the ring shaped sealing component, and a housing disposed at least partially about the carrier. The housing is maintained in a static position relative to the carrier via a bellows spring. At least one of the carrier and the housing include a plurality of rotation inhibiting features disposed in a balanced configuration about the at least one of the carrier and the housing. Each of the rotation inhibiting features including a finger extending from the housing and at least one interface feature corresponding to each finger, and being disposed on the carrier. The at least one interface feature comprises one of a notch protruding radially into the carrier and a tab protruding radially outward from the carrier.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE COMPRESSOR
A high pressure compressor rotor stack includes a bore basket that includes a bore basket internal passage. A first plurality of rotor stages at least partially defines a forward rotor bore with a forward hub structure and the bore basket. A second plurality of rotor stages at least partially defines an aft rotor bore with an aft hub structure and the bore basket.
Floating, non-contact seal with offset build clearance for load imbalance
Aspects of the disclosure are directed to an engine comprising: a first structure, a second structure configured to rotate relative to the first structure, and a floating, non-contact seal that interfaces the first structure and the second structure, where the seal includes: a shoe, a first beam coupled to the shoe, and a second beam coupled to the shoe, where during a non-operational state of the engine a reference point of the shoe is substantially centered within a range of radial deflections of the reference point of the shoe over the operating range of the engine.
Cell separation using microchannel having patterned posts
A micro flow device (11, 71) for separating or isolating cells from a bodily fluid or other liquid sample uses a flow path where straight-line flow is interrupted by a pattern of transverse posts (23, 81). The posts are spaced across the width of an expanded collection chamber region (17, 75) in the flow path, extending between the upper and lower surfaces thereof; they have rectilinear surfaces, being curved in cross-sections, e.g. circular or tear-drop shaped, and are randomly arranged so as to disrupt streamlined flow.
AIR BLOWER AND CLEANER
An air blower includes a motor including a shaft, an impeller fixed to the shaft, and a motor housing disposed radially outwardly of the motor. The impeller includes an impeller base that extends radially outwardly at an axially lower position. The impeller base includes a boss section fixed to the shaft. The motor housing includes an upper surface cylindrical section that extends axially upward from a radially inner end of the motor housing upper surface. At least a portion of a radially inner surface of the upper surface cylindrical section is radially opposed to a radially outer surface of the shaft or the boss section, and an axially upper end of the upper surface cylindrical section is disposed over an axially lower end of the impeller base and over an upper end of a bearing.
Shield for arranging between a bearing and a rotating seal element
An assembly is provided that includes a shaft, a bearing, a stator seal element, a rotor seal element and a shield. The shaft extends along an axis. The bearing supports the shaft and receives lubrication fluid. The stator seal element circumscribes the shaft. The rotor seal element is mounted on the shaft axially between the bearing and the stator seal element. The rotor seal element forms a seal with the stator seal element. The shield substantially prevents the lubrication fluid from traveling axially away from the bearing onto the rotor seal element.
Seal assembly with detachable spacer members
A seal assembly includes an annular inner casing disposed on a shaft and including an axial portion and two radial portions. An annular outer casing is disposed about the inner casing and includes an axial portion engageable with the body bore and a radial portion. An annular elastomeric seal member is coupled with the first radial portion of the inner casing and is engageable with the outer casing axial portion. An annular bumper has a fixed end coupled with the outer casing radial portion and a free end disposed adjacent to the inner casing second radial portion. At least one spacer extends from the bumper free end and is disposed against the inner casing second radial portion or within an opening through the inner casing second radial portion. The spacer(s) are detachable from the bumper when one of the inner and outer casings angularly displaces relative to the other casing.
SEAL STRUCTURE AND TURBOCHARGER
According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a seal structure includes a rotary shaft that is provided inside a housing, a metal-made surrounding portion of the housing that surrounds the rotary shaft in a radial direction of the rotary shaft, and a resin-made seal member that faces an inner circumferential surface of the surrounding portion and rotates together with the rotary shaft.
