Seal monitoring and control system

A seal monitoring and control system for a gas lubricated non-contacting seal includes various sensors providing signals to a programmable logic control system. The control system is disposed to determine a presence of an anomalous operating condition of the seal, for example, based on phase, relative position of rotor to stator or other signals in combination provided by the various sensors to provide an output signal, which in one embodiment performs at least one mitigating process to correct the anomalous operating condition by adjusting at least one operating parameter of the seal.

Seal device and rotary machine

Provided is a seal device configured to prevent leakage of a fluid on an outer circumferential surface of a rotary shaft in a direction along an axis of the rotary shaft. The seal device includes an annular main body section disposed in a circumferential direction of the rotary shaft, and a plurality of at least two kinds of holes formed in an inner circumferential surface of the main body section opening and facing to the outer circumferential surface of the rotary shaft, and having different depths.

SEALING SYSTEM AND TURBOPUMP COMPRISING SUCH A SYSTEM

A sealing system for at least one floatingly mounted ring in a support for a rotary shaft rotatable about an axis directed along a longitudinal direction provides dynamic sealing between the shaft and the support. The system includes a coupling part interposed between the ring and the support, whereby the ring is secured to the support. A first cylindrical type joint directed with respect to a first transverse direction provides a joint between the support and the coupling part. A second cylindrical type joint directed with respect to a second transverse direction perpendicular to the first transverse direction provides a joint between the ring and the coupling part. A turbopump includes such rotary shafts and sealing systems.

High Speed Centrifugal Pump Lined Seal Housing

A centrifugal pump, and components thereof, operable at high speeds, is described under the present disclosure. A hard polymer sleeve can be applied to certain surfaces of a seal casing within the pump. If the sleeve is applied along surfaces near the center shaft, then the hard polymer will withstand the forces and pressures of the system. The hard polymer might not be used along the outer diameter, farther from the shaft, because velocities are higher the further out one goes. The current disclosure allows for the use of fluoropolymer in the lining sleeve. The benefits of fluoropolymer have been unavailable in high speed centrifugal pumps because the forces are too great on the periphery of the seal casing. However, the lower speeds along the interior, near the shaft, allow fluoropolymer to be used.

Water pump

A water pump includes a mechanical seal provided between a housing and a rotary shaft for preventing cooling water from leaking from a whirl chamber. The housing forms a space into which cooling water leaked from between the mechanical seal and the rotary shaft is flown and a water vent for discharging cooling water flown into the space. The housing is joined with a thermostat cover to form a reservoir communicating with the water vent. The reservoir has a drain for releasing evaporated cooling water to the air and a control wall for preventing cooling water remaining as liquid from flowing out through the drain.

System and method for seal flush

Techniques are provided for seal flush systems. A system may include a reactor circulation pump configured to circulate a slurry through a polymerization reactor. The slurry may include an olefin monomer, a catalyst, and a diluent. The system may also include a catalyst-inhibiting additive system configured to supply a catalyst-inhibiting additive to a seal of the reactor circulation pump and a seal flush system configured to generate a seal flush mixture and supply the seal flush mixture to the seal of the reactor circulation pump.

Auxiliary face seal for submersible well pump seal section

A well fluid submersible pump assembly includes a pump operatively coupled to a motor and a seal section located between the motor and the pump. The seal section has a single piece tubular housing with adapters secured to opposite ends of the housing. A shaft extends axially through the housing for driving the pump. An auxiliary seal carrier located in the housing has a central bore through which the shaft extends and has an outer diameter portion that seals to the bore of the housing. Opposed check valves in the seal carrier allow lubricant to flow from one side of the auxiliary carrier to an opposite side of the seal carrier in response to a selected pressure differential. A mechanical face seal mounts to the auxiliary seal carrier and seals around the shaft.

SEAL ASSEMBLY FOR ABRASION RESISTANT BEARING OF CENTRIFUGAL PUMP

A submersible well pump assembly has a motor that rotates a drive shaft within the pump. The pump has a number of pump stages, each stage having a diffuser and an impeller. A bushing is fixed for non-rotation within the diffuser. A thrust runner sleeve mounted to the drive shaft has an outer diameter surface in sliding rotating engagement with an inner diameter surface of the bushing. At least one seal ring is mounted to the sleeve in sealing engagement with the drive shaft to block the entry of well fluid particulates between the sleeve and the drive shaft.
