METHOD FOR FAN BLADE HEATING USING COANDA EFFECT
A method of heating a fan blade of a gas turbine engine for anti-icing includes emitting jets of heated air from a radial fin disposed upstream from a radially inward portion of a fan blade airfoil, the jets of heated air being directed by outlet orifices in a downstream direction substantially parallel to a flow of incoming air over the fan blade airfoil.
Cooling system for a turbine engine
A cooling system for a turbine engine is provided. The turbine engine includes a compressor, a compressor discharge chamber (CDC), a combustor assembly, and a turbine coupled in a serial flow relationship such that a first portion of air from the CDC is channeled to the combustor assembly. The turbine is coupled to the compressor via a rotor. The cooling system includes an air duct configured to channel a second portion of air from the CDC to a mid-rotor region of the rotor, and a fluid supply system coupled to the air duct at a coupling. The fluid supply system is configured to channel a flow of fluid to the coupling. The coupling is configured to cool the second portion of CDC air via absorption of heat by the fluid from the second portion of CDC air.
Annular injection apparatus for wet compression
A technical object of the present invention is to provide an annular injection apparatus for wet compression which enables sprayed droplets to maximally evaporate without being drained as condensate water, thereby reducing compression work of the compressor. To this end, the annular injection apparatus for wet compression according to the present invention is an annular injection apparatus for wet compression which is used for a compressor including a nose cone and a bell mouth in an inlet of a flow path, in which droplets are sprayed to a portion except for portions directed toward the nose cone and the bell mouth.
TURBOMOLECULAR PUMP AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING THE PRESSURE IN A PROCESS CHAMBER
A turbomolecular pump and method and apparatus for controlling the pressure in a process chamber using such a pump is disclosed. The turbomolecular comprises: a rotor comprising a plurality of blades on a rotatable shaft; a control motor for driving the rotatable shaft; wherein the control motor is sized to output a power that is more than three times larger than a power required to drive the shaft at a constant velocity that is sufficiently high to provide an exhaust pressure of 5 millibars.
Centrifugal compressor and method of modifying centrifugal compressor
A multistage centrifugal compressor includes a casing, a rotor including a plurality of impellers, a diaphragm defining a gas flow path that includes a return flow path, and at least one liquid injection device configured to inject liquid into the gas flow path. The liquid injection device includes a liquid injection path, an internal path, a chamber, and a plurality of nozzles. The liquid injection path penetrates through the casing at a position corresponding to a return bend. The internal path receives a liquid supply pipe inserted from the liquid injection path through the return bend. The chamber is provided in the diaphragm along a circumferential direction and the liquid is introduced into the chamber through the internal path. The plurality of nozzles inject the liquid introduced into the chamber, to the gas flow path from different positions of the chamber in the circumferential direction.
COMPRESSOR HOUSING FOR TURBOCHARGER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A compressor housing for a turbocharger dividably composed of a plurality of pieces including a scroll piece, and a shroud piece. The scroll piece and the shroud piece are assembled to each other by press-fitting a press-fitting portion of the shroud piece into a press-fitted portion of the scroll piece. Pressure-contacting portions that are provided on either one of the scroll piece and the shroud piece are pressure-contacted with pressure-contacted portions that are provided on the other one of the scroll piece and the shroud piece, respectively. As a result, the pressure-contacting portions plastically flow to form seal parts for sealing the scroll piece and the shroud piece, respectively.
Rotary machine
A centrifugal compressor according to the present invention includes, as gas flow paths, diffuser flow paths into which process gas flowing from impellers to outside in a radial direction flows, curved flow paths that respectively communicate with the diffuser flow paths and change a flowing direction of the process gas from a direction toward the outside in the radial direction to a direction toward inside in the radial direction, and return flow paths that respectively communicate with the curved flow paths and cause the process gas flowing through the curved flow paths to flow into the impellers. In the present invention, the curved flow path configuring at least one of the gas flow paths is provided between a diaphragm and a flow path forming body that is provided between the diaphragm and the casing.
Telescoping bore basket for gas turbine engine
A bore basket assembly for a gas turbine engine. The assembly includes an outer cylindrical member. The assembly also includes an inner cylindrical member at least partially surrounded by the outer cylindrical member to define an annulus therebetween, one of the cylindrical members operatively coupled to an aft rotor stage, the other of the cylindrical members operatively coupled to a forward rotor stage, the cylindrical members moveable in an axially telescoping manner relative to each other.
PROCESS FOR UTILIZING OF MULTI STAGE COMPRESSORS INTERCOOLERS BLOWDOWN AS A COOLANT FOR PROCESS AIR
A system and a method for processing air prior to separating components of the air are disclosed. The system comprises an air cooler, one or more compression stages operated in series, and one or more intercoolers installed between two adjacent compression stages. A blowdown storage tank is configured to collect water blowdown from one or more intercoolers and provide cooling medium to the air cooler. Atmospheric air is first sprayed by the water blowdown in the air cooler to form a cooled air stream. The cooled air stream is subsequently compressed in the one or more compression stages and cooled by the intercoolers between two adjacent compression stages. The water blowdown from one or more of the intercoolers is collected and recycled as the cooling medium to cool the atmospheric air before it enters the first compression stage.
