Horizontal axis pi-pitch water turbine with reduced drag
Substantially horizontal axis water turbine assemblies for generating electrical power in areas having poor sources of water flow including rotors mounted within housings in such a manner so as to minimize water resistance to the rotor blades with rotor blades passing through upper rotor return air spaces created within the housings and wherein the turbine assemblies may be mounted within support structures that both channel water flow to the turbine assemblies and facilitate access to the components thereof.
BEARING ASSEMBLY OF A ROTOR OF A WIND TURBINE, AND WIND TURBINE
A bearing assembly of a rotor of a wind turbine, for mounting a shaft of the rotor in a fixed housing, wherein the shaft of the rotor is coupled to rotor blades of the rotor via a hub, includes: a plurality of first housing-side axial slide bearing segments engaging on the housing; a plurality of second housing-side axial slide bearing segments; a plurality of first housing-side radial slide bearing segments; and a plurality of second housing-side radial slide bearing segments. An axial distance between the first and second axial sliding surfaces of the rotor defines a bearing length l. The radial sliding surfaces of the rotor on which the first and second radial slide bearing segments are supported, define a bearing diameter d of the bearing assembly, and V≤1 applies to a ratio V=l/d between the bearing length l and the bearing diameter d.
HORIZONTAL-AXIS OCEAN CURRENT POWER GENERATION DEVICE FOR UNDERWATER VEHICLE
The present disclosure discloses a horizontal-axis ocean current power generation device for an underwater vehicle. The power generation device is disposed in a groove of a rotary body of the underwater vehicle, and includes an undercarriage unit, a yawing unit, and a power generation unit. The undercarriage unit can realize elevation and descent of the entire power generation device, and the power generation unit is capable of realizing arbitrary rotation within 360° in a horizontal plane through the yawing unit. The power generation device can actively yaw based on change of an ocean current direction to perform an incident flowing function. The power generation unit respectively drives an outer shaft and an inner shaft to rotate through a front blade and a rear blade that rotate in opposite directions, so as to drive inner and outer rotors of a motor, thereby cutting magnetic induction to generate electric power.
Wind turbine having a rotating rotor ring and a stationary ring
A wind turbine is described which includes a support structure, a rotor which includes one or multiple rotor blades and which is situated on the support structure so that the rotor is freely rotatable about a rotation axis, and a generator which is connected to the rotor and which converts the wind energy into electrical energy when the rotor is rotating. The support structure includes a stationary ring on which the rotor is rotatably guided and on which the stator of the generator is situated.
APERTURE TURBINE
This invention is an auxiliary wind turbine featuring an aperture. In the preferred embodiment, the device itself is stationary, and mounts onto host objects that move such as wind turbine blades or vehicles. The Aperture Turbine may be oriented on the host object in a plurality of locations to enhance and maximize the intake of kinetic energy from the air moving around and through the Aperture Turbine when in use.
Accelerated and-or redirected flow-inducing and-or low pressure field or area-inducing arrangement, their use with turbine-like devices and method for using same
An accelerated and/or redirected flow arrangement, optimally serving as a wildlife and/or debris excluder (WDE), is used in combination with a turbine-like device having an inlet end and an outlet end for fluid flowing therethrough, e.g., a hydro-turbine. The arrangement includes at least a forward part designed to be placed in front of a fluid inlet of a turbine-like device and configured to produce at least one of the following effects on the fluid: (a) imparting a re-direction of the fluid; and/or (b) accelerating the flow velocity of the fluid, as it flows through the forward part. Turbine-like devices having both a forward part and a rearward part of flow arrangement are disclosed, as well as a method of enhancing turbine performance.
