This invention discloses an improved wind turbine suitable for mounting without a wind turbine tower. The wind turbine is based on a rotor with appropriately selected blades. A nozzle and diffuser in the wind flow increase the amount of wind energy available to the rotor. The rotor is interruptibly connected with one or more of a plurality of generators which allows generation at a wide range of wind speeds. The rotor is also interruptibly connected with a co-axial flywheel which allows for storage or use of rotational energy as needed by the availability of wind energy. One or more wind turbines can be grouped together in a common housing. Electricity can also be generated by means of stored energy. The lack of a wind turbine tower and the general compact design allows the wind turbine to be used in close proximity to or on buildings.

Disclosed is a system and method for both consumer and utility scale energy extraction from flow-based energy sources. The passive system may utilize directing perforations on a surface in order to create and air jet vortex generators. Alternatively the system may provide for flow through discrete orifices aligned with the span of an aerodynamic assembly in a co-flow direction, utilizing a Coanda effect. Further additional configurations include directing flow through a perforated surface skin that is near the trailing edge on the suction side. Even further are embodiments for blowing air directly out of the trailing edge of an airfoil. The disclosed systems and methods support a wide variety of scenarios for fluid flow energy extraction, such as wind or water flow, as well as for related products and services.

A transportation vehicle may be equipped with electrical energy harvesting systems to harvest electrical energy for use. By way of example, the transportation vehicle includes a Venturi system and a plurality of energy harvesting systems. The Venturi system is configured to receive and accelerate the speed of an incoming air flow and based on the incoming air flow, each of the energy harvesting systems is configured to receive the accelerated incoming air flow and to generate electrical energy from the accelerated incoming air flow. The generated electrical energy is stored into onboard batteries in the transportation vehicle.

INERTIAL PNEUMATIC WAVE ENERGY DEVICE

A buoyant wave energy device is disclosed that incorporates an open-bottomed tube of substantial length in which is partially enclosed a first body of water that oscillates in response to wave action. The device incorporates a buoy to which an upper end of the tube is connected and inside of which is trapped a second body of water of substantial mass. A differential phase in the oscillations of the water trapped in the tube, and the oscillations of the buoy of augmented mass, result in the periodic compression of a pocket of air trapped at the top of the tube, and in the subsequent expulsion of pressurized air through a turbine, thereby generating electrical power.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Wind powered electric vehicle is disclosed. The invention specifically uses bleeding high velocity air due to motion of vehicles by means venturi inlets V1 V2 and directing it through venturi pipes (4) to drive an impeller/generator combination (1). to generate either variable AC power or DC power which is processed to generate regulated power. The power so generated being used to charge batteries which in turn feed energy to drive set of motors M1, M2 and optionally an auxiliary stand by motor (3). The number of venrturi inlets may be increased as per the size of vehicle which may have more than one pair of rear motors M2.
