Disclosed is an energy converting apparatus for converting mechanical energy obtained by a fluid flow into electric energy. The energy converting apparatus comprises: a blade; a measuring device for measuring reaction of the blade when the fluid flow exerts an external force on the blade, and generating a measurement value corresponding to a measurement result; a memory for storing control values; a controller for reading a first control value among the control values from the memory in response to the measurement value output from the measuring device, and generating a control signal by using the first control value; and an actuator for changing a three-dimensional shape of the blade in response to the control signal output from the controller.

Devices and methods for mitigating vibrations in wind turbines

An assembly and associated method of operation for a wind turbine blade of a wind turbine includes a vibration mitigating device configured to be arranged around the blade. The vibration mitigating device includes a main body configured to extend chord-wise around and encircle the blade, the main body having at least one inflatable body. Inflatable air flow modifying elements extend radially outward from the main body. A pressure source is connectable to the inflatable body and the air flow modifying elements to inflate the inflatable body and the airflow modifying elements based on measurements of a sensor system that monitors a condition of the wind turbine or an environmental condition around the wind turbine.

Blade for a wind turbine comprising means for retaining a spoiler at a retracted position

A wind turbine includes a blade. The blade includes a blade body; an active member mounted to the blade body and configured to move between a retracted position and an extended position to change an aerodynamic property of the blade; and a bladder which is configured to be connected to a pneumatic or hydraulic system of the wind turbine to move the active member when the bladder is filled by a fluid supplied by the pneumatic or hydraulic system, or when the fluid is removed from the bladder by the pneumatic or hydraulic system. The wind turbine includes a retaining means configured to prevent the active member from moving towards the extended position.

The lengths and/or chords and/or pitches of wind turbine or propeller blades are individually established, so that a first blade can have a length/chord/pitch that is different at a given time to the length/chord/pitch of a second blade to optimize performance and/or to equalize stresses on the system.
