MODULAR WIND TURBINE BLADE WITH LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM

A wind turbine blade having at least two blade modules extending in the spanwise direction of the blade and being configured for connection end-to-end at a connection joint An electromagnetic shield is positioned in electrically conductive contact with the blade modules and extending across the connection joint in the spanwise direction.

ROTOR BLADE WITH NOISE REDUCTION MEANS

A rotor blade for a wind turbine is provided. The rotor blade includes a pressure side, a suction side, a leading edge section with a leading edge, and a trailing edge section with a trailing edge. An airflow flows along the surface of the rotor blade from the leading edge section to the trailing edge section and builds up a boundary layer in close proximity to the surface of the rotor blade. The rotor blade includes a noise reduction device for reducing noise which is generated by interaction of the airflow and the rotor blade. The noise reduction device is located within the boundary layer of the rotor blade. The noise reduction device includes a cover and connection device for connecting the cover to the surface of the rotor blade. The cover spans at least over a part of the surface of the rotor blade.

Wind Turbine Rotor Blade Assembly with Surface Features

Rotor blade assemblies for wind turbines are provided. A rotor blade assembly includes a rotor blade. In some embodiments, the rotor blade assembly further includes a surface feature configured on an exterior surface of the rotor blade, the surface feature having an exterior mounting surface. At least a portion of the exterior mounting surface has a contour in an uninstalled state that is different from a curvature of the exterior surface of the rotor blade at a mount location of the surface feature on the rotor blade. In other embodiments, the rotor blade assembly further includes a seal member surrounding at least a portion of a perimeter of the surface feature. The seal member contacts and provides a transition between the exterior surface and the surface feature.

A wind turbine blade is described having noise reduction features. The blade has a plurality of projecting serrations provided at the blade trailing edge to reduce the scattering noise produced during operation of the blade, wherein the serrations have a plurality of through-going apertures defined in the serration body. The apertures act to provide a pressure equalization effect at the serrations between the suction and pressure sides. This pressure equalization provides for improved noise reduction performance, as well as a reduction in mechanical stresses and strains which may be experienced by the serrations, increasing serration lifetime.
