A noise-reduction device for a wind turbine and the wind turbine applied thereof are introduced. The noise-reduction device has a body. The body has a connection portion and a spoiler. The connection portion is concavely disposed on one side of the body and corresponds in shape to the wind turbine's blade so as to be fixed to a confronting edge of the wind turbine blade. The spoiler is disposed on the opposing side of the body. As soon as the wind turbine blade is driven by wind, the spoiler stirs air and guides the air across two sides thereof. When guided by the spoiler, airflows turn into vortexes on the wind turbine blade; hence, the chance that the wind turbine will stall and generate noise is greatly reduced.

SPHERICAL WIND TURBINE WITH DIMPLES

Disclosed systems and devices relate to generating energy using spherical wind turbines with dimples. The systems, devices, and methods described herein relate to a wind turbine with no blades or propellers. Currently, wind turbines with blades or propellers can have their functionality impaired by the presence of dust, soot, or ash particles in the air. This makes it difficult to operate current wind turbines in certain harsh environments. In this device, a spherical shell entirely encapsulates the generator, such that dust, soot, or ash particles do not interfere with the turbine. In some embodiments, the dimples capture wind to rotate the spherical shell. In some embodiments, the outer surface of the spherical shell is covered with flexible solar cells. In some embodiments, the flexible solar cells sit inside the dimples.

Multi-resonant feedback control of multiple degree-of-freedom wave energy converters

Multi-resonant control of a 3 degree-of-freedom (heave-pitch-surge) wave energy converter enables energy capture that can be in the order of three times the energy capture of a heave-only wave energy converter. The invention uses a time domain feedback control strategy that is optimal based on the criteria of complex conjugate control. The multi-resonant control can also be used to shift the harvested energy from one of the coupled modes to another, enabling the elimination of one of the actuators otherwise required in a 3 degree-of-freedom wave energy converter. This feedback control strategy does not require wave prediction; it only requires the measurement of the buoy position and velocity.

Assembly for harnessing a pendulum motion from fluid wave energy for conversion to power
09780624 · 2017-10-03 ·

An assembly for harnessing a pendulum motion from fluid wave energy to convert to power. The assembly converts a fluid wave energy into electricity through a pendulum mechanism. The pendulum mechanism makes use of a buoyant sphere that floats in a fluid and absorbs wave energy, such as oscillations, vibrations, and disturbances known in wave energy, while floating in the fluid. A hemispherical pendulum swings in relation to the wave energy. The hemispherical pendulum transmits the swinging motion to an electrical generator for conversion to electricity. The harnessing of wave energy and swinging of the hemispherical pendulum is controlled through various components that balance and stabilize the assembly. The sphere comprises components to help control the irregularities from wave energy on the hemispherical pendulum through a directional guidance member, a velocity regulation member, and a stabilization member. A transmission cable transmits the electricity to a control center on shore.
