Improvements in Tree Processing Systems
The present invention relates generally to an improved tree processing system enabling efficient, reliable and accurate processing of harvested trees. The system includes a grabbing head having first grabbing arms and a delimbing head having second grabbing arms. The first and second grabbing arms are mounted on a boom system and can be activated to grab the tree stem of a harvested tree. When grabbed, the boom system can be selectively extended or retracted to effect delimbining of a felled tree. Each of the delimbing head and grabbing head includes saws allowing an operator to selectively activate one or both saws to cut a length of timber.

A cutting tool for clearing plant growth. The clearing tool includes a power transmission apparatus. An elongated part is coupled to the transmission to rotate around a longitudinal axis of the elongated part and having at least one thread that rises toward the transmission and the diameter of which decreases from an end of the elongated part coupled to the transmission to the end of the elongated part that is at a distance from the transmission. Guide parts are arranged around the elongated part to extend in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the elongated part. A blade part is arranged at the end of the elongated part coupled to the transmission. The elongated part, which, while targeted in a longitudinal direction toward the plant growth, is arranged to cut the plant growth when being rotated, wherein the threads transport the plant growth toward the blade part guided by the guide parts and cut the plant growth with the blade part.
Method for measuring a tree trunk, and a harvester
A harvester that includes a harvester aggregate for felling, trimming and preparing tree trunks, a first measuring device provided in connection with the harvester aggregate for measuring of at least one dimension of a tree trunk. The harvester includes a second measuring device for measuring a feature of the first measuring device, whereby the feature is an attribute reflecting the capability of the first measuring device to measure the dimension correctly, and a control unit configured to make a comparison between an actual value of the measured feature and a target value of the feature, whereby the target value is indicative of a state of the first measuring device, where its measurement of the dimension is considered to be correct.
