Generally, the high speed spool mechanically connects a high pressure turbine to a high pressure compressor, and the low speed spool mechanically connects a low pressure turbine to at least one of a fan and a prop via the first epicyclic gear system and to a low pressure compressor via the second epicyclic gear system, according to various embodiments. The first epicyclic gear system and the second epicyclic gear system may include a common sun gear shaft.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE WITH CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
A gas turbine engine is provided. The gas turbine engine includes a turbomachine having a low speed spool and a high speed spool; a rotor assembly coupled to the low speed spool; an electric machine rotatable with the low speed spool for extracting power from the low speed spool, for adding power to the low speed spool, or both; and an inter-spool clutch positioned between the low speed spool and the high speed spool for selectively coupling the low speed spool to the high speed spool.
FUSELAGE SHIELD FOR AN AIRCRAFT WITH AN UNDUCTED ENGINE
In an aspect of the present disclosure, an aircraft defining a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction is provided. The aircraft includes: a fuselage; a single unducted rotor engine mounted at a location spaced from the fuselage of the aircraft, the single unducted rotor engine comprising an unducted rotor assembly having a single stage of rotor blades; and a fuselage shield attached to or formed integrally with the fuselage at a location in alignment with the single stage of rotor blades of the unducted rotor assembly along the lateral direction.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE OUTLET GUIDE VANE ASSEMBLY
A single unducted rotor engine is provided. The single unducted rotor engine defines an axial direction and a radial direction, the engine including: a power source; a casing surrounding the power source; an unducted rotor assembly driven by the power source comprising a single row of rotor blades; and an outlet guide vane assembly comprising a plurality of pairs of outlet guide vanes, each pair of the plurality of pairs of outlet guide vanes including first outlet guide vane extending from the casing at a location downstream from the single row of rotor blades of the unducted rotor assembly and a second outlet guide vane also positioned downstream from the single row of rotor blades of the unducted rotor assembly; wherein the first outlet guide vane of each pair of outlet guide vanes defines a first geometry, wherein the second outlet guide vane of each pair of outlet guide vanes defines a second geometry, and wherein the first geometry is not equal to the second geometry.
Variable pitch bladed disc
A variable pitch bladed disc including a plurality of blades, each being of variable pitch about a blade axis of rotation and having a root, the plurality of blades including at least one first blade and at least one second blade, a plurality of rotor connecting shafts, each shaft having a root and a tip, the root of each blade being mounted on the tip of a corresponding rotor connecting shaft via a pivot so as to allow each blade to be rotated about the blade axis of rotation, the first blade having a first rotation axis inclination such that the rotation axis thereof is inclined in a fixed manner with respect to a radial axis passing through the root of the corresponding shaft, and the second blade has a second rotation axis inclination different from the first rotation axis inclination.
Turboprop comprising an incorporated electricity generator
An electrical generator is housed in an annular cavity between the casing and the propeller shaft of a turboprop, while imposing little or no additional space requirement and with lightweight ancillary equipment. The rotor of the generator is mounted on an autonomous shaft end. A flange of the outer casing is removable in order to access the generator and to enable its easy removal and remounting.
TURBOMACHINE AND GEAR ASSEMBLY
