POWER GENERATION SYSTEM
A power generation system includes a shroud that defines a fluid flow path. A gas turbine engine is in the fluid flow path, and the gas turbine engine includes a compressor, a combustor downstream from the compressor, and a turbine downstream from the combustor. An electric generator is in the fluid flow path upstream from the compressor. The electric generator includes a rotor coaxially aligned with the turbine, and the turbine and the rotor rotate at the same speed
Aircraft with ram air turbine disk with generator having blade shroud ring integrated magnets
The present disclosure is directed to an aircraft with an accessory system configured to be powered independent of the primary propulsion system by a ram air turbine power system. The ram air turbine power system illustratively includes an accessory generator integrated with a turbine rotor as well as other components so as to manage space claim and offer unique functionality.
Turboelectric generator system
A turboelectric generator system includes a gas turbine engine which includes, in fluid flow series, a gas-generator compressor, a combustor, a gas-generator turbine, and a variable-speed free power turbine. The system further comprises a variable-frequency electric machine rotatably connected with the free power turbine and a power converter configured to convert a variable frequency electrical output from the electric machine to a fixed frequency output.
Direct-drive fan system with variable process control
Embodiments of a direct-drive fan system and a variable process control system are disclosed herein. The direct-drive fan system and the variable process control system efficiently manage the operation of fans in a cooling system such as a wet-cooling tower or air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE), HVAC systems, mechanical towers or chiller systems.
FASTENER ARRANGEMENT FOR ROTATING GROUP OF TURBOMACHINE
A turbomachine includes a housing and a rotating group that is supported for rotation about an axis within the housing. The rotating group includes a rotor shaft, a wheel, and a fastener that clamps the wheel to the rotor shaft. The fastener is unitary and includes a head and a shank. The shank includes a piloting feature on an arcuate surface that faces radially outward with respect to the axis. The shank is received in the wheel and is attached to the rotor shaft with the piloting feature being piloted to an arcuate inner radial surface of the wheel. The head abuts an axial surface of the wheel for axially clamping the wheel to the rotor shaft.
TURBINE THERMAL ISOLATION SYSTEM FOR MICRO-TURBINE ALTERNATOR
An electrical power generation system including: a micro-turbine alternator, including: a decomposition chamber; a turbine including blades driven by combustion gases from the decomposition chamber; a blower operably connected to the decomposition chamber to provide a blown airflow thereto; one or more shafts connecting the turbine to the blower such that rotation of the turbine drives rotation of the blower; an electric generator disposed along the one or more shafts such that electrical power is generated via rotation of the one or more shafts; and a housing enclosing the electric generator within a generator cavity formed therein. The blower is configured to blow air through the generator cavity through or around the electric generator. The air is configured to exit the generator cavity to enter the turbine.
Modular design of turboexpander components
An electric generator includes a process gas inlet on a downstream side of the flow control valve to receive process gas into the electric machine; a rotor shaft including a node position, the node position defining a position of a node of a first bending mode of the rotor shaft; a turbine wheel coupled to the rotor shaft at the node position, the turbine wheel configured to receive process gas and rotate in response to expansion of the process gas flowing into an inlet of the turbine wheel and out of the outlet of the turbine wheel, the rotor shaft configured to rotate with the turbine wheel, and a stationary stator, the electric generator to generate an alternating current upon rotation of the rotor within the stator. The turbine wheel selected from a plurality of turbine wheels based on the operational conditions of the electric generator.
PUMP ACTUATING DEVICE, AND ASSOCIATED PUMPING SYSTEM, AIRCRAFT AND FUEL SUPPLY METHOD
An actuating device of a pump of a fuel pumping system of an engine, including a motor, a generator, an inverter, a switching member and a control member, the motor including a first rotor coupled to the pump and a first stator including at least one input stator winding, the generator including a second rotor coupled to a drive shaft of the engine, and a second stator including at least one output stator winding, the control member being configured to control the switching member in order to selectively connect each input stator winding: to a corresponding output stator winding if a speed of the engine is higher than or equal to a predetermined speed; to a corresponding output of the inverter, otherwise.
