CMC BOAS arrangement

A blade outer air seal assembly includes a carrier that has a slot and a hole that extends into the slot. A blade outer air seal has a plurality of segments that extend circumferentially about an axis and mounted in the carrier. At least one of the plurality of segments has a base portion and a first wall that extends axially and radially outwardly from the base portion. The first wall has an aperture. A pin extends through the hole and the aperture.

The centrifugal compressor can have a shroud engaged to a case via a plurality of circumferentially interspaced slots and lugs, the slots extending in at least one of a radial direction and an axial direction relative to a rotation axis of the compressor, the lugs slidingly received in a corresponding slot and configured for sliding in the slot in response to thermal growth of the case relative to the shroud.

Exhaust nozzle center body attachment

A ceramic turbine engine exhaust component, such as a ceramic matrix composite (“CMC”) exhaust center body may be positioned around a metallic attachment ring. The attachment ring may have a greater coefficient of thermal expansion than the CMC center body. A plurality of bolts radially-spaced around the circumference of the attachment ring may be inserted through apertures in the center body with a sliding fit, and may be coupled to the attachment ring. The bolts may slide within the apertures, allowing the attachment ring to thermally expand without applying extra loads on the exhaust center body due to the expansion.

A combustor including a transition piece that defines a flow channel therein; a combustor basket inserted in the transition piece from an upstream side of the flow channel that sends a combustion gas through the flow channel and defines a gap through which a compressed air is sent with an inner peripheral surface of the transition piece; wherein the combustor basket includes a notch portion recessed from an end of the combustor basket on a downstream side toward the upstream side, and a purge air introduction hole through which the compressed air in the gap is introduced into the notch portion.

An assembly for a turbomachine turbine includes at least one ring sector made of CMC material and a support casing including an upstream flange and a downstream flange between which each ring sector is disposed, each ring sector including a base that has a radially external face from which radially extend two lugs, the lugs of each ring sector being retained between the two flanges of the support casing by axial pins each engaged in one of the flanges of the ring support casing and in the lug of the ring sector facing said flange, the assembly further including, for each ring sector, at least one radial retaining pin screwed into the support casing and coming to radially bear against a lug of the at least one ring sector to retain it in position, and anti-rotation system for rotationally locking the radial retaining pin.

An assembly for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a gas turbine engine component that has a first interface portion, and a support that has a mounting portion and a second interface portion, the mounting portion attachable to an engine static structure, a first retention feature that releasably secures the first interface portion to the support in a first installed position of the gas turbine engine component, and a second retention feature dimensioned to secure the first interface portion to the second interface portion in a second installed position of the gas turbine engine component. The first installed position differs from the second installed position, and one of first and second retention features is dimensioned to carry the gas turbine engine component in response to release of another one of the first and second retention features. A method of sealing for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

GAS TURBINE ENGINE HAVING A HEAT SHIELD

A heat shield provided with a gas turbine engine includes a heat shield body extending between a first heat shield end and a second heat shield end. The heat shield body has an exterior surface disposed proximate an inner surface of a first case and an interior surface disposed opposite the exterior surface. The interior surface defines a rib that extends towards a combustor vane support lock.

The second article includes a second material composition having a second thermal tolerance greater than a first thermal tolerance of a first material composition of the first article. The sealing member is disposed between and contacts the first article and the second article, and includes a third material composition having a third thermal tolerance less than the second thermal tolerance and less than an operating temperature of the second article. The thermal break is defined by the second article, and is proximate to the sealing member and partitioned from the sealing member by a portion of the second article. The thermal break interrupts a thermal conduction path from the second article to the sealing member. The first article and the second article compress the sealing member, forming a thermal gradient-tolerant seal.

A turbine airfoil is provided with at least one insert positioned in a cavity in an airfoil interior. The insert extends along a span-wise extent of the turbine airfoil and includes first and second opposite faces. A first near-wall cooling channel is defined between the first face and a pressure sidewall of an airfoil outer wall. A second near-wall cooling channel is defined between the second face and a suction sidewall of the airfoil outer wall. The insert is configured to occupy an inactive volume in the airfoil interior so as to displace a coolant flow in the cavity toward the first and second near-wall cooling channels. A locating feature engages the insert with the outer wall for supporting the insert in position. The locating feature is configured to control flow of the coolant through the first or second near-wall cooling channel.
