Nozzle guide vane
A nozzle guide vane for a gas turbine engine having a combined side wall thickness value which varies within a cavity region so as to provide a point with a maximum value of combined side wall thickness, which is advantageous for capturing debris travelling through the engine core.

PROFILED STRUCTURE FOR AN AIRCRAFT OR TURBOMACHINE FOR AN AIRCRAFT
A turbomachine includes a rotor and a stator, the stator having a plurality of profiled structures, each profiled structure being elongated in a direction of elongation in which the profiled structure has a length exposed to an airflow, and having a leading edge and/or a trailing edge, at least one of which is profiled and has, in said direction of elongation, serrations defined by a succession of peaks and troughs and having a geometric pattern transformed, over at least a part of said length exposed to the airflow, by successive scaling, via multiplicative factors, in the direction of elongation and/or transverse to the direction of elongation. The geometric pattern, as defined with reference to a radial distribution of the integral scale of the turbulence, evolves in a non-periodic manner.
SYSTEMS FOR CONTROLLING VARIABLE OUTLET GUIDE VANES
A fan assembly includes a fan duct, an inlet fan, an outlet guide vane assembly, and a control system. The inlet fan includes fan blades adapted to rotate about a central axis to force fan exit air toward an aft end of the fan duct. The outlet guide vane assembly is located in the fan duct downstream of the inlet fan and is configured to adjust a direction of the fan exit air. The outlet guide vane assembly includes a plurality of guide vanes that extend radially relative to the central axis and are configured to rotate to a first vane-pitch angle. The control system is configured to rotate the guide vanes redirect the fan exit air, vary a pressure downstream of the fan inlet, minimize intake flow distortion experienced by the inlet fan, reduce inlet fan vibratory response and/or improve fan operability margins.
VARIABLE TANDEM FAN OUTLET GUIDE VANES
A fan assembly includes a fan duct, an inlet fan, and an outlet guide vane assembly. The inlet fan includes blades adapted to force fan exit air toward an aft end of the fan duct. The outlet guide vane assembly is located in the fan duct downstream of the inlet fan and is configured to adjust a direction of the fan exit air received from the blades. The outlet guide vane assembly includes a first plurality of vanes configured to rotate to redirect the fan exit air in a first direction, and a second plurality of vanes located downstream of the first plurality of vanes. The second plurality of vanes are configured to rotate to redirect the fan exit air flowing in the first direction in a second direction to minimize losses created by distortions in fan inlet air and created by the first vanes.
Turbomachine nozzle with an airfoil having a curvilinear trailing edge
A turbomachine defines an axial direction, a radial direction perpendicular to the axial direction, and a circumferential direction extending concentrically around the axial direction. The turbomachine includes a nozzle having an inner platform, an outer platform, and an airfoil. The airfoil includes a leading edge, a trailing edge downstream of the leading edge, a pressure side surface, and a suction side surface opposite the pressure side surface. The trailing edge is orthogonal with the outer platform in an axial-radial plane and the trailing edge is oblique to the inner platform in the axial-radial plane.
INDIVIDUALLY CONTROLLABLE VARIABLE FAN OUTLET GUIDE VANES
A fan assembly includes a fan duct, an inlet fan, and an outlet guide vane assembly. The inlet fan includes blades adapted to force fan exit air toward an aft end of the fan duct. The outlet guide vane assembly is located in the fan duct downstream of the inlet fan and is configured to adjust a direction of the fan exit air received from the blades. The outlet guide vane assembly includes a first plurality of outlet guide vanes including a first outlet guide vane configured to rotate to a first angle so as to redirect the fan exit air in a first direction and a second outlet guide vane configured to rotate to a second angle so as to redirect the fan exit air in a second direction. The second outlet guide vane is located at a different circumferential position than the first outlet guide vane.
Turbine stator vanes having inserts and splitter plates
A stator of a turbine section, has: vanes distributed around a central axis, a vane of the vanes extending along a spanwise axis and defining an internal passage; an insert received within the internal passage, the insert defining a cavity for receiving cooling air and defining impingement cooling apertures facing an inner face of the vane; a splitter plate secured within the cavity and being transverse to the spanwise axis, the splitter plate having a base secured to the insert and a tip protruding from the base; and a flow passage defined between the tip and the insert, the flow passage fluidly connecting a first section of the cavity to a second section of the cavity, the tip of the splitter plate secured to the insert at at least one location along a perimeter of the tip.
GAS TURBINE BLADE ARRANGEMENT
A curved contour of the lateral surface of a blade arrangement includes in at least one meridian section on mutually opposite sides of a blade airfoil an intersection point that is closer to the blade airfoil front edge, and an intersection point that is closer to the blade airfoil rear edge, and a best-fit line of least square distances from the curved contour. The curved contour includes first and/or the second contour section which meet specified conditions.
Turbine nozzle assembly system with nozzle sets having different throat areas
A turbine nozzle assembly system includes a plurality of nozzle sets, where each nozzle set forms an annulus. The nozzles in each set include an inner endwall and an outer endwall that include joint openings to receive the respective endwall mount ends of an airfoil. The airfoils across the plurality of nozzle sets have an inner endwall mount end and an outer endwall mount end that are identical amongst the plurality of nozzle sets. A wing portion of the airfoil has a selected wing shape that is identical within the respective nozzle set but different amongst the plurality of nozzle sets. In this manner, the endwalls can be removed from an airfoil and replaced with an airfoil having a different wing shape that provides a different pairwise throat area. The system allows changing of a pairwise throat area for a nozzle set without replacing the entirety of each nozzle.
