ENDWALL PLUG COOLING SYSTEM
A cooling system includes a nozzle guide vane endwall. The nozzle guide vane endwall includes a first wall and a second wall. The first wall includes a first opening that extends completely through the first wall into a primary flow path of a high-pressure turbine. The second wall includes a second opening that extends completely through the second wall into an inner passageway of the nozzle guide vane endwall. The inner passageway is configured to direct a cooling fluid to the first opening and/or the second opening. The first and second opening are configured to receive a plug or a probe.
Aspirating face seal assembly for a rotary machine
A seal assembly for a rotary machine is positioned between a rotating component and a stationary component of the rotary machine. The seal assembly includes a seal bearing face that opposes the rotating component and a slide device. The slide device is positioned between different fluid pressure volumes in the rotary machine. The slide device axially moves toward the rotating component responsive to pressurization of the rotary machine. The slide device includes cross-over ports and the seal bearing face includes feed ports. The feed ports extend through the seal bearing face to form an aerostatic portion of a film bearing between the seal bearing face and the rotating component. The seal bearing face and/or the rotating component is a non-planar surface that, during rotating motion of the rotating component, forms an aerodynamic portion of the film bearing between the seal bearing face and the rotating component.
NOZZLE STRUCTURE AND ROTARY MACHINE
A nozzle structure is provided between a rotor configured to rotate about an axis and a casing configured to surround the rotor from an outer peripheral side thereof. The nozzle structure includes an outer ring disposed inside the casing; a nozzle provided at an inner radial side of the outer ring; a labyrinth seal including a plurality of fins arranged in a direction of the axis and provided between an inner peripheral surface of the nozzle and an outer peripheral surface of the rotor; and an elastic member provided between the nozzle and the labyrinth seal.
Vane arc segment with flange having step
A vane arc segment includes an airfoil fairing that has a platform and an airfoil section that extends therefrom. The platform defines periphery edge faces, a gaspath face, and a non-gaspath face. The platform has a flange that projects radially from the non-gaspath face. The flange defines a forward flange face, an aft flange face, and a radial flange face. The flange has an end portion adjacent one of the periphery edges. The end portion includes a step that defines a radial step face that is radially intermediate the radial flange face and the non-gaspath face.
AIRFOIL COOLING USING NON-LINE OF SIGHT HOLES
An airfoil for a gas turbine engine is provided that includes a first portion formed from a first plurality of plies of a ceramic matrix composite material and defining an inner surface of the airfoil, as well as a second portion formed from a second plurality of plies of a ceramic matrix composite material and defining an outer surface of the airfoil. The first portion and the second portion define a non-line of sight cooling aperture extending from the inner surface to the outer surface of the airfoil. In one embodiment, a surface angle that is less than 45° is defined between a second aperture and the outer surface. A method for forming an airfoil for a gas turbine engine also is provided.
Method and systems for a fluidic variable turbocharger for an engine
Various methods and systems are provided for a fluidic variable turbine. In one example, a system for an engine comprises a turbocharger turbine including a nozzle ring, the nozzle ring including a plurality of stationary vanes, each vane of the plurality of stationary vanes including a plurality of injection ports arranged at an outer surface of the vane, and a gas supply system to supply variable gas flow to and out of the plurality of injection ports.
Gas compressor with eductor assembly
A gas compressor comprising a substantially hollow cylindrical drum secured to a fixed shaft and configured to rotate a volume of fluid about a central axis. A plurality of eductors may be affixed to the shaft through support rods and positioned within an interior of the drum to receive a flow of fluid during rotation of the drum. A gas inlet along the fixed shaft comprises a channel through which gas external to the drum may be drawn into the eductors and compressed. Compressed gas accumulates within a central area of the drum and may be harvested through a gas outlet along the fixed shaft. Additional embodiments may comprise pitot tubes to manage a fluid level within the drum, and a cooling system to manage fluid temperature.
Twin spool industrial gas turbine engine with variable inlet guide vanes
A large frame heavy duty industrial gas turbine engine that can produce twice the power as a conventional single spool industrial engine, and can operate at full power during a hot day. The industrial engine includes a high spool that directly drives an electric generator at a synchronous speed of the electric power grid, a low spool with a low pressure turbine that drives a low pressure compressor from the exhaust gas from the high pressure turbine, where the low pressure compressor supplies compressed air to the high pressure compressor. Variable inlet guide vane assemblies are used in the low pressure turbine and the low pressure compressor so that the high spool can operate at full power even during a hot day. The low spool is designed to operate at a higher speed than at the normal temperature conditions so that a high mass flow can be produced for the high spool during the hot day conditions.
Gas turbine engine nozzles
A gas turbine engine including a frame assembly; a turbine assembly; and a nozzle disposed in the turbine assembly, wherein the nozzle defines an inner end along a radial direction and an outer end along the radial direction, wherein the outer end of the nozzle is supported by the frame assembly, wherein the inner end of the nozzle is supported by the frame assembly, and wherein the inner end of the nozzle is displaceable relative to the frame assembly in at least the radial direction.
Adapter and turbomachine
An adapter for connecting a fluid line to a housing section of a turbomachine is disclosed. A lower and an upper pair of flanges are arranged offset from each other about a channel axis of a fluid channel and are arranged without a space between each other in a direction of the channel axis, where the feed-throughs of the upper pair of flanges are open circumferentially.
