LOW SPEED FAN TIP CAMBER
A fan blade for a gas turbine engine has a covered passage. A cross section through the fan blade at a point along the blade span is defined as having particular change in angle (α3−α1) of the camber line between the leading edge and the trailing edge and/or between the leading edge and the point on the camber line that corresponds to the start of the covered passage.
AIRFOIL WITH WISHBONE FIBER STRUCTURE
An airfoil includes an airfoil wall that defines a leading end, a trailing end, and pressure and suction sides that join the leading end and the trailing end. The airfoil wall includes a wishbone-shaped fiber layer structure that has a pair of arms that merge into a single leg. The pair of arms are formed by first and second S-shaped fiber layers each of which is comprised of a network of fiber tows. The first and second S-shaped fiber layers merge to form the single leg. The single leg comprises fiber tows from each of the first and second S-shaped fiber layers that are interwoven, and the single leg forms at least a portion of the trailing end of the airfoil wall.
Airfoil with body and cover panel
An airfoil includes a body that has rib nodes that each define a node cavity therein. A cover panel is carried on the body over the rib nodes. The cover panel includes tabs that project into the node cavities. Plugs are disposed in the node cavities and pinch the tabs against the node cavities to lock the cover panel on the body.
COUNTER-ROTATING FAN
A counter-rotating fan, comprising an impeller assembly and an air guide structure. The impeller assembly comprises a first stage impeller and a second stage impeller, of which the rotation directions are opposite. The pressure surfaces of first blades of the first stage impeller are configured to be opposite the suction surfaces of second blades of the second stage impeller, and from the blade root to the blade tip, each of the first blades and the second blades bends toward its own rotation direction. The air guide structure comprises a flow guide cover. The flow guide cover is provided at the center position of the air intake side of the first stage impeller, and the air intake side surface of the flow guide cover at least partially forms a flow guide surface, the flow guide surface extending along the axis of the first stage impeller in the direction away from the counter-rotating fan.
Controlled flow turbine blades
The present application provides a turbine blade. The turbine blade includes a root section with a first curved section, a tip section with a second curved section, and number of mean sections positioned between the root section and the tip section. The mean sections each include a substantially prismatic shape.
Turbomachine blade
A turbomachine airfoil element comprises an airfoil having: an inboard end; an outboard end; a leading edge; a trailing edge; a pressure side; and a suction side. A span between the inboard end and the outboard end is 1.75-2.20 inches. A chord length at 50% span is 1.05-1.35 inches. At least two of: a first mode resonance frequency is 2400±10% Hz; a second mode resonance frequency is 4950±10% Hz; a third mode resonance frequency is 7800±10% Hz; a fourth mode resonance frequency is 8700±10% Hz; and a fifth mode resonance frequency is 12500±10% Hz.
CHARACTERISTIC DISTRIBUTION FOR ROTOR BLADE OF BOOSTER ROTOR
A rotor for a turbofan booster section associated with a fan section of a gas turbine engine includes a rotor blade having an airfoil extending from a root to a tip and having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The airfoil has a plurality of chord lines spaced apart in a spanwise direction. Each chord line of the plurality of chords lines is defined between the leading edge and the trailing edge and has a normalized chord value. From the hub, the normalized chord value decreases to a minimum value between about 20% to about 90% span and increases from the minimum value to the tip. The rotor includes a rotor disk coupled to the rotor blade configured to be coupled to the shaft or the fan to rotate with the shaft or the fan, respectively, at the same speed as the shaft and fan.
CHARACTERISTIC DISTRIBUTION FOR ROTOR BLADE OF BOOSTER ROTOR
A rotor for a turbofan booster section associated with a fan section of a gas turbine engine includes a rotor blade having an airfoil extending in a spanwise direction from 0% span at a root to 100% span at a tip and having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The airfoil has a plurality of spanwise locations between the root and the tip each having a normalized local maximum thickness. A value of the normalized local maximum thickness decreases from the root to a minimum value and increases from the minimum value to the tip, and the minimum value is within 60% span to 90% span. The rotor includes a rotor disk coupled to the rotor blade configured to be coupled to a shaft or a fan to rotate with the shaft or the fan, respectively, at the same speed as the shaft and the fan.
CHARACTERISTIC DISTRIBUTION FOR ROTOR BLADE OF BOOSTER ROTOR
A rotor for a turbofan booster section associated with a fan section of a gas turbine engine includes a rotor blade having an airfoil having a leading edge, a trailing edge and a mean camber line. The airfoil has a delta inlet blade angle defined as a difference between a local inlet blade angle defined a spanwise location, and a root inlet blade angle defined at the root. The delta inlet blade angle decreases in the spanwise direction from the root to a minimum value at greater than 10% span and from the minimum value, the delta inlet blade angle increases to the tip. The rotor includes a rotor disk coupled to the rotor blade configured to be coupled to the shaft or the fan to rotate with the shaft or the fan, respectively, at the same speed as the shaft and the fan.
