Machine and process for filterless wet removal of particles from and humidification of air
An improved air scrubber has an improved, more efficient, more robust impeller and impeller housing for mixing incoming air with water, scrubbing the air with increased efficiency and lower mean time between failures. Also water flow through the system is improved to prevent loss of scrubbing performance and to reduce user workload. In addition to these improvements, the water intake system has been redesigned to use less water, prevent using too much water, and to prevent previously common errors that require users to drain water from the impeller housing.
Igniter seal arrangement for a combustion chamber
An igniter seal arrangement for a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber has a wall having first surface and second surfaces. A boss projects from the first surface, and has a platform on its remote end. The platform has an inner surface spaced from the first surface of the wall to define a chamber between the first surface of the wall and the inner surface of the platform. The platform has an outer surface facing away from the first surface of the wall and an aperture extends through the wall from the outer surface of the platform of the boss to the second surface. First and second L-shape rails extend from the platform and a sealing member has a first edge and a second edge locatable between the outer surface of the platform and the first and second L-shape rails and the sealing member has an aperture to receive an igniter.
Rotary machine
A rotary machine includes damper pins and platforms each having a flat surface extending in an axial line direction. For each adjacent pair of the platforms, a damper abutting surface of a first of the adjacent pair of the platforms extends toward a damper abutting surface of a second of the adjacent pair of the platforms as approaching an outer side of a rotor blade stage in a radial direction while opposing each other in a peripheral direction. A damper accommodation space, which is defined by surfaces including the damper abutting surfaces, is defined between each adjacent pair of the platforms. Each of the damper pins defines a regular polygonal prism extending in the axial line direction and includes a damper pin main body in which an angle defined by two side surfaces corresponds to an angle defined by the damper abutting surfaces between the adjacent pair of the platforms.
Hourglass airfoil cooling configuration
In one exemplary embodiment, an airfoil includes pressure and suction side walls that extend in a chord-wise direction between leading and trailing edges. The pressure and suction side walls also extend in a radial direction to provide an exterior airfoil surface. A cooling passage is arranged between the pressure and suction walls. The cooling passage has a first width in the chord-wise direction near the suction side wall. A second width is in the chord-wise direction near the pressure side wall. A third width is between the pressure and suction side walls. The third width is smaller than the first and second widths.
Gas turbine engines including tangential on-board injectors and methods for manufacturing the same
Disclosed is a tangential on-board injector (TOBI) system that includes an annulus and a plurality of cooling airflow passages disposed about the annulus. Each cooling airflow passage of the plurality of cooling airflow passages includes an inlet opening having a polygonal inlet cross-section, the inlet opening having an inlet cross-sectional area. Each cooling airflow passage of the plurality of cooling airflow passages further includes an outlet opening having an outlet cross-section and an outlet cross-sectional area. The inlet cross-sectional area is greater in magnitude than the outlet cross-sectional area. Also disclosed are additive manufacturing methods for manufacturing the tangential on-board injector system and gas turbine engines that incorporate the tangential on-board injector system.
ABRADABLE SEALING ELEMENT
An abradable sealing element comprises a substrate and a sealing structure. The sealing structure comprises one or more wall structures extending from the substrate and defining at least one open cell which is filled with abradable material. The one or more wall structures are formed by additive-layer, powder-fed, laser-weld deposition onto the substrate. The one or more wall structures are formed from nickel-based superalloy and constitute from about 10% to about 50% of the total volume of the sealing structure.
CAST-IN FILM COOLING HOLE STRUCTURES
A core element of an investment core for use in a casting process used to produce an airfoil includes an investment core body, an extension connected to and protruding from the investment core body, and a connection portion connected to the investment core body and to the extension. The investment core body comprises a ceramic material. A shape of the extension comprises a tube with a centerline axis passing through a center of the extension. A shape of a cross-section of the extension taken along a plane perpendicular to the extension centerline axis comprises an ellipse. The extension is connected to the investment core body by the connection portion.
Guide vane connection
Disclosed is a lever linkage for the rotationally fixed connection of a guide vane to a lever of a guide vane adjusting device of a turbomachine, wherein the guide vane has a vane shaft, which extends along a vertical axis. In accordance with the invention, the lever is formed in one piece at a radially outer end of an essentially hollow cylindrical clamping sleeve, which coaxially surrounds the vane shaft in sections, and the vane shaft and the clamping sleeve are coupled by way of a longitudinal side form-fitting connection or a front-end form-fitting connection, and the vane shaft can be tensioned with the clamping sleeve along the vertical axis by means of a fastening element, in particular a threaded nut. In consequence thereof, a separation of two different force flows that act on the guide vanes is obtained, as a result of which local load peaks are reduced.
Turbine engine duct
A duct for a turbine engine, such as a gas turbine engine, can be utilized to carry a fluid from one portion of the engine to another. The duct can include a metallic tubular element having one of a varying wall thickness, a varying cross section, or a tight bend. Such a duct can be formed utilizing additive manufacturing or metal deposition on an additively manufactured mandrel.
