Fan Having Housing Formed by Connectable Pieces and Including Air Guide Ribs and an Internal Ramp
A fan having a housing including a front piece that is separable but connectable to a back piece is disclosed. The front piece has a first connecting edge and a downstream edge, and the back piece has a second connecting edge and an upstream edge. The second connecting edge is configured to be connected to the first connecting edge. The fan may include a handle, the handle having a first portion integral with the front piece and a second portion integral with the back piece, the first portion configured to be connected to the second portion. The fan may further include air guide ribs provided on an interior surface of the housing and/or a ramp that starts at a location downstream of the upstream edge of the housing and ends at the downstream edge of the housing.
BILGE PUMP HAVING OUTSIDE SENSING SURFACE WITH RIBS
A pump features a liquid sensing device (LSD) in combination with a housing. The LSD senses the level of a liquid collecting outside the pump and turns the pump on/off for pumping the liquid. The housing includes a housing wall to contain the LSD. The housing wall has an outside wall surface with an outside sensing surface. The housing includes an inside mounting structure to mount the LSD inside the housing in relation to the outside sensing surface. The outside sensing surface has ribs extending or projecting outwardly away from the outside wall surface in order to prevent an object from being stuck on the outside sensing surface, and allow the LSD to sense the level of the liquid collecting outside the pump and touching the outside sensing surface, reducing a malfunction of the pump due to the object contacting the outside sensing surface.

A pump side part for use with a centrifugal slurry pump for pumping a fluid mixture containing particulate matter, the pump side part comprising a main body having a main axis, the main body including a side wall section which extends laterally with respect to the main axis and has opposite facing first and second sides, a plurality of formations on a surface of the second side including an inner formation and an outer formation in spaced relation to the inner formation, the formations being configured so that in use the formations generate a flow of the fluid mixture across the surface which detaches from the surface the particulate matter adjacent thereto.

A blade for a rotating machine, particularly for a gas turbine engine, has a leading edge and a trailing edge joined by pressure and suction surfaces. The trailing edge has a serrated form including a first periodic variation and a second periodic variation of higher frequency and lower amplitude than the first periodic variation.

A geared turbofan engine with a sun shaft driving a sun gear of planetary gearbox. The sun shaft having a front section proximal to the gearbox and a rear section distal from the gearbox. The outer diameter of the front section of the sun shaft is smaller than the outer diameter of the rear section of the sun shaft. The front section of the sun shaft having between two and four undulant sections, wherein each undulant section having at least one axial part extending in axial direction of the sun shaft and two diaphragm parts on either side of the at least one axial part extending in radial direction outward, the at least one axial part of the undulant section having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the front section of the sun shaft.
High temperature capable additively manufactured turbine component design
A hybrid three-layer system is presented. The hybrid three-layer system includes a two-layer composite system and an additively manufactured third layer comprising a lattice structure. The composite layer system includes a metallic substrate, a structured surface, and a thermal protection system. The structured surface may be additively manufactured onto the metallic substrate and includes structured surface features formed to project above the metallic substrate. Each of the structured surface features are separated from adjacent structured surface features by grooves. The thermal protection coating may be thermally sprayed onto the structured surface and is bonded to each of the structured surface features. The lattice structure is in contact with a surface of the metallic substrate of the composite layer system.

A free-tipped axial fan assembly features a shroud barrel comprising an inlet, the radius of said inlet at its upstream end being greater than the radius of said inlet at its downstream end. An angle, in a plane including the fan axis, between the surface of said inlet and the direction of the fan axis varies non-monotonically with respect to a surface coordinate which increases with distance along the surface of the inlet.

Methods and systems are provided for a pressure-charged combustion engine having at least one cylinder head comprising at least two cylinders. In one example, a system may include each cylinder having at least one outlet port, at least two cylinders configured to form two groups each comprising at least one cylinder, exhaust lines joined together to form an overall exhaust line which provides an exhaust manifold, the exhaust lines connected to an exhaust turbocharger and equipped with rotor blades wherein each rotor blade comprises a first inlet edge facing the flows and a second inlet edge facing the flows connected to one another at a connection point forming an inflection.
BLADE WITH CORRUGATED OUTER SURFACE(S)
A blade includes an airfoil body defined by a concave pressure side outer wall and a convex suction side outer wall that connect along a leading edge and a trailing edge. The blade also includes a first corrugated surface extending from the trailing edge to the leading edge on an outer surface of the concave pressure side outer wall, and/or a second corrugated surface extending from the trailing edge to the leading edge on an outer surface of the convex suction side outer wall. The blade acts to reduce flow velocity losses associated with wake mixing by accelerating the mixing process from the source of the wake to minimize inflated unsteady mixing that occurs within a downstream blade row.
