CRACK STOPPER FOR WELDS
A method for joining two structural elements by welding, in particular by butt welding comprises forming a weld line joining the two structural elements; and adding material across the weld line, thereby forming one or more crack stoppers for limiting crack propagation along the weld line. The one or more crack stoppers each have a limited extension along the weld line as seen in relation to a length of the weld line. A structural system comprising two structural elements joined by the method is disclosed. The method may be applied, e.g., to components of aircraft engines.
Hybrid Thermal Barrier Coating
An article has a metallic substrate having a plurality of recesses. A first coating is at least at the recesses and has: a splatted layer; and a columnar layer atop the splatted layer. A second coating is away from the recesses and has: a columnar layer atop the substrate without an intervening splatted layer.
Sealing device
Provided is a sealing device including: an impeller configured to rotate; a casing including a groove portion in a surface facing the impeller; a floating ring configured to float between the casing and the impeller and configured to be inserted into the groove portion; and a centering ring provided inside the groove portion and provided between the casing and the floating ring.
Axial Turbine Engine Compressor De-Icing Blade
An aeroplane turbojet low-pressure compressor vane includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, a surface, and an extrados surface which extend from the leading edge to the trailing edge. To combat the presence and the formation of ice, the vane is provided with an electric de-icing device with a thermistor. The thermistor forms a heating electrical track suitable for de-icing the vane. The present application also proposes a method for producing a turbine engine vane.
CONTRA-FLOW STRIPS, CONTRA-FLOW SEAL SEGMENTS, AND METHODS FOR INHIBITING LEAKAGE
A contra-flow strip for inhibiting leakage of a fluid between a rotating member and a stationary member includes, for example, a base supportable by the stationary member coaxially around the rotating member, and means, extending from the base coaxially towards the rotating member between a low pressure region and a high pressure region, for generating a contra flow of a portion of a tangential flow of fluid in the low pressure region to the high pressure region between the stationary member and the rotating member.
Centrifugal blower
A centrifugal blower includes a turbofan. The turbofan includes blades, a shroud ring, and a main panel. Each blade includes a leading edge that is located inward of the shroud ring in a radial direction of the turbofan, and a trailing edge that is located on an outer side in the radial direction of the turbofan. The leading edge includes a second side region located on the second side in the rotation axis direction, and a first side region located on the first side of the second side region in the rotation axis direction. The first side region is located on the first side in the rotation axis direction compared with the trailing edge. Stepped portions are formed only in a part of the leading edge, the stepped portions being formed in the first side region or in the first side region and the second side region.
Turbomachine stage and method for detecting a sealing gap of such a turbomachine stage
A turbomachine stage, in particular a turbine stage or compressor stage of a gas turbine, is disclosed. The turbomachine stage has a, in particular conical, housing in which a rotor blade arrangement having a plurality of rotor blades is disposed which have an outer shroud having at least one radial sealing flange. The sealing flange has a recess arrangement having at least one radial recess in which a radial projection is disposed, in particular centrally. A sensor arrangement having at least one capacitive sensor for detecting a radial distance from a circumferential surface of the sealing flange is disposed on the housing.
Airfoil arrangement for a gas turbine engine utilizing a shape memory alloy
An airfoil arrangement for a gas turbine engine may include a clearance device using a shape memory alloy movable to provide clearance between an airfoil and one or more other components of the gas turbine engine. The clearance device may be formed as part of a fan blade. The arrangement may be configured to reduce overall weight and dimensions of the gas turbine engine.
OUTPUT DIRECTOR VANE FOR AN AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE, WITH AN IMPROVED LUBRICANT COOLING FUNCTION USING A HEAT CONDUCTION MATRIX HOUSED IN AN INNER DUCT OF THE VANE
A guide vane for a dual flow aircraft turbine engine, the aerodynamic part of the vane including an inner duct for lubricant cooling extending in a main direction and being partly bounded by a pressure side wall and a suction side wall of the vane. A heat conduction matrix is lodged in the duct, and presents main heat transfer wings extending parallel to the direction, and laid out in staggered rows.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OIL DAMPING WITH TEXTURED DAMPER SURFACES
A damper system may include an inner damper having a first annular geometry and a textured surface. An outer damper may also have an annular geometry and be disposed about the inner damper. The outer damper may have a textured surface. The textured surfaces of the inner damper and outer damper may define a cavity that is configured to contain a viscous fluid.
