A compressor wheel for a turbocharger has an improved geometry that provides improved performance as compared with a comparably sized conventional compressor wheel by having the radially inward portion of the primary blades sweep upwardly into the upper region of the hub portion. The through bore and integral nut of conventional compressor wheels is eliminated and replaced with a blade extension that has an angled upper edge which extends downwardly and radially outwardly from the hub portion, effectively increasing the size of the blade, the amount of air movement and the amount of power generated, without increasing the overall cost, size or mass of the compressor wheel.

Gas turbine engines with internally stretched tie shafts

A tie shaft for a rotating group of an engine core includes a cylindrical body having an internal surface and an external surface and extending between a forward end and an aft end. The tie shaft further includes a first group of internal grooves on the internal surface of the cylindrical body proximate to the forward end and a second group of internal grooves on the internal surface of the cylindrical body proximate to the aft end.

CLOSING ASSEMBLY FOR CLOSING A BLADE RING, ASSOCIATED BLADE SUPPORTS, TURBOMACHINE, AND METHOD FOR INSERTING A CLOSING ASSEMBLY
20180023402 · 2018-01-25 · ·

A closing assembly for closing a blade ring inserted into a circumferential T-groove of a blade support of a turbomachine, having two insertion elements, each has a C-shaped basic form having a resting leg, retention leg, and connection leg connecting the resting leg and the retention leg and is designed to reach around a ridge of the T-groove. The resting leg reaches over the ridge and the retention leg reaches under the ridge, and an intermediate element, is positioned between the insertion elements to prevent the insertion elements from moving to the center of the T-groove. The intermediate element reaches below the retention legs of the insertion elements in the assembled state, and a positioning element is associated with the intermediate element, which is supported between the groove base of the T-groove and the intermediate element and to position the intermediate element at a desired distance from the groove base.

Threaded fastener lock

The present disclosure relates generally to a fastener lock for engaging a threaded fastener. The fastener lock defines a discontinuous circular opening therethrough with at least one extending tab extending into the discontinuous circular opening. When a threaded fastener is disposed in the discontinuous circular opening, the at least one extending tab engages the threads of the threaded fastener.

Damping design to reduce vibratory response in the turbine exhaust manifold centerbody

Disclosed are a system for damping vibrations of a gas turbine exhaust and a method to damp vibrations of a gas turbine exhaust. The system includes a turbine exhaust cylinder connected to a turbine exhaust manifold establishing a fluid flow path, the fluid flow path including an inner and an outer flow path. A damping blanket damps the vibrations and is coupled to a surface of the inner flow path via a constraining layer clamped by a plurality of studs.

INJECTOR FITTINGS

An injector includes a feed arm extending from an inlet fitting to a nozzle body opposite the inlet fitting. The nozzle body includes a spray outlet in fluid communication with the inlet fitting for issuing a spray of fluid supplied at the inlet fitting. The inlet fitting of the feed arm includes a receptacle therein for receiving a fluid supply manifold inside the inlet fitting of the feed arm.

METHOD FOR REPAIRING A GENERATOR ROTOR BLADE CONNECTION
20170167506 · 2017-06-15 ·

A method for repairing a blade connection of a generator rotor is disclosed. The generator rotor includes an internally threaded hole formed in the generator rotor and an externally threaded blade root. The method includes the steps of removing the blade from the generator rotor, removing material of a first section of the root extending from an end of the root closest to the airfoil, and screwing the blade back into the threaded hole. Additionally, a reworked blade and a reworked blade generator rotor connection is disclosed.

Bearings for a turbomachine having an electric motor

An electronically-controlled turbocharger (ECT) includes a rotor (of an electric motor) on the shaft of the turbomachine. There are a variety of embodiments for securing the rotor onto the shaft including, but not limited to: having a taper on both the shaft on the rotor and using a nut engaging with threads in the shaft to put the two tapers together; a press fit; splines and grooves also using a nut; and a shoulder on the shaft that the rotor abuts when a nut is engaged with threads on the shaft. To accommodate these retaining features, the diameter of the shaft is greater near the turbine end of the shaft. A first bearing installed on the shaft near the turbine end of the shaft has a larger inside diameter than a second bearing installed on the other side of the rotor.

Turbine exhaust cylinder / turbine exhaust manifold bolted stiffening ribs

Disclosed are a casing arrangement and a method to reduce critical panel mode response in a gas turbine casing. The casing arrangement includes a turbine exhaust cylinder connected to a turbine exhaust manifold establishing a fluid flow path, the fluid flow path including an inner and an outer flow path. A plurality of stiffening ribs are coupled to a surface of the inner flow path which effectively increases the stiffness reducing the critical panel mode response.
