A circumferential seal assembly suitable for forming a thin film between a rotatable runner and a sealing ring is presented. The assembly includes an annular seal housing, a rotatable runner, an annular seal ring, and a plurality of groove structures. Each groove structure includes a groove and an optional feed groove. The groove includes at least two adjoining steps defined by base walls arranged to decrease depthwise. Two adjoining base walls are disposed about a base shoulder. Each base shoulder locally redirects a longitudinal flow to form an outward radial flow in the direction of the annular seal ring. The base walls are bounded by and intersect a pair of side walls. A side wall includes at least one side shoulder which narrows the groove widthwise and locally redirects the longitudinal flow to form a lateral flow in the direction of the other side wall. Outward and lateral flows separately or in combination enhance stiffness of a thin-film layer between the annular seal ring and the rotatable runner.

The cooling hole includes a throat having a minimum cross section, and a diffuser part extending from the throat to the outlet. The diffuser part includes a channel cross section expanding rearward and along the wall part as it approaches the outlet. The inner peripheral surface of the cooling hole includes a flat portion extending in a direction perpendicular to the cooling hole and along the wall part at a front part of the inner peripheral surface, and a convex portion projecting from a rear part of the inner peripheral surface toward the flat portion, extending in parallel with the flat portion, and forming the throat between the flat portion and the convex portion.

Device for cooling a turbine casing with air jets

An air-jet cooling device for a casing of a turbomachine, in particular a turbine casing, including a cooling air housing having a wall, and a tube having a first end mounted on the wall of the housing so as to put the tube into fluid communication with the housing, orifices being formed in a wall of the tube in order to eject the cooling air coming from the housing on the casing. The tube has a section at the first end with a gradual variation that defines a boss. The boss has a curved surface to be immersed in the cooling air so as to avoid a detachment of a boundary layer of the cooling air at an interface between the first end of the tube and the housing.

A heat exchanger system for a propulsion system inlet duct includes a heat exchanger assembly that is disposed within an inlet duct assembly. The heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger with a front facing area that is greater than an area of the inlet duct that is transverse to a longitudinal length of the inlet duct.

Exhaust nozzle of a gas turbine engine

An exhaust nozzle of a gas turbine engine which includes an outer nozzle wall, a flow channel which is limited radially outwards by the nozzle wall, a centerbody arranged in the flow channel, and exactly one strut connecting the centerbody to the nozzle wall. The strut is connected to the nozzle wall by means of a connecting structure that is displaceable in the axial direction of the outer nozzle wall. At least one actuator is provided interacting with the connecting structure or the outer nozzle wall for displacing the strut in the axial direction.
