WIND FUNNEL AND GAS COMBUSTION TURBINE SYSTEMS INCLUDING COMPRESSION SECTIONS
Wind funnel and gas combustion turbine systems are disclosed. Air travels through a wind funnel where it is compressed, and then flows into a compression section of a gas combustion turbine that is fueled by a hydrocarbon fuel source such as natural gas. Compressed air from the wind funnel may enter the compression section at selected locations. The compression section may have a front relatively low compression section and a downstream relatively higher compression section, and the compressed air from the wind funnel may be selectively delivered to one or both of the lower and higher compression sections. In addition, ambient air may be introduced into the lower compression section. During periods when compressed air from the wind funnel is delivered to the downstream higher compression section, the front lower compression section may be decoupled from the downstream section.
WIND FUNNEL AND GAS COMBUSTION TURBINE SYSTEMS WITH CONTROLLED AIR FEED
Wind funnel and gas combustion turbine systems are disclosed. Air travels through a wind funnel where it is compressed, and then flows into a compression section of a gas turbine that is fueled by a hydrocarbon fuel source such as natural gas. Compressed air from the wind funnel enters the compression section of the gas turbine through one or more air inlets toward multiple rotating turbine blades in an air feed direction having a component normal to air impact surfaces of the turbine blades. In addition to the compressed air from the wind funnel, ambient air may be introduced into the compression section of the gas combustion turbine.
Turbine assembly
An assembly comprises a first cooling cavity disposed within one or more of a turbine assembly or a combustion chamber of an engine. The first cooling cavity directs cooling air within the one or more of the turbine assembly or the combustion chamber. The assembly comprises a second cooling cavity also disposed within the one or more of the turbine assembly or the combustion chamber. The second cooling cavity receives at least some of the cooling air from the first cooling cavity. A forward facing step nozzle forms a channel that fluidly couples the first cooling cavity with the second cooling cavity. The step nozzle includes steps having elongated first sides and narrow second sides. The elongated first sides of the steps protrude into the channel such that a cross-sectional area of the channel of the step nozzle at the steps is smaller than a cross-sectional area of the channel of the step nozzle outside of the steps.
MODULAR FAN HOUSING WITH MULTIPLE MODULAR UNITS HAVING SOUND ATTENUATION FOR A FAN ARRAY FOR AN AIR-HANDLING SYSTEM
A modular fan housing configured to hold an array of motors and fans is provided. The modular fan housing is configured for use in an air-handling system that delivers air to a ventilation system for at least a portion of a building. The fan housing comprises a plurality of modular units configured to be stacked adjacent to one another in at least one row or column to form an array. The modular units each include an interior surface and have a front end and a back end that define a chamber. The chambers are configured to receive the motors and fans. Sound attenuation layers extend along at least a portion of the interior surface of the corresponding chambers. The sound attenuation layers are positioned between at least some of the adjacent chambers.
Wind-funneling for gas turbines
Wind-funneling systems for gas turbines are disclosed. Air travels through a wind funnel where it is compressed, and then flows into a gas turbine that is fueled by a hydrocarbon fuel source such as natural gas. The wind funnels have a controlled volume with an opening facing the wind that concentrates air power and energy and directs the force into a constricted outlet that feeds into the gas turbine. Compressed air from the wind funnel may enter the front compressor section of the gas turbine at relatively high density and force. As a result, the gas turbine does not have to use as much energy to pull the air in, which creates fuel savings. The compressed air from the wind funnel then flows to the combustion section of the gas turbine where oxygen from the wind-compressed air is used to combust the hydrocarbon fuel supplied to the gas turbine. The wind funnel is thus used to generate compressed air that may increase efficiency in the front compressor section of the gas turbine, and serves as an oxygen source in the combustion section of the gas turbine.
GAS TURBINE COMPONENT WITH COOLING APERTURE HAVING SHAPED INLET AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME
A method of manufacturing a cooled gas turbine component includes forming a core with an outer surface. The outer surface includes a core feature. The method also includes casting an outer wall of an airfoil about the core. The outer wall has an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface includes a shaped inlet portion that corresponds to the core feature. Moreover, the method includes forming an outlet portion through the outer wall to fluidly connect the outlet portion to the shaped inlet portion. The shaped inlet portion and the outlet portion cooperatively define a cooling aperture through the outer wall.
PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER COMPRISING PROFILED GUIDE ELEMENTS
A plate heat exchanger, in particular for an aircraft turbo machine, between a first fluid and a second fluid, the first fluid being intended to circulate in a first direction and the second fluid being intended to circulate in a second direction different from the first direction, the heat exchanger having stacked stages for circulation of the first fluid, and profiled elements at the inlet and outlet of the stages, the profiled elements having a sawtooth-shaped cross-section and defining channels converging at the inlet of the stages and diverging at the outlet of the stages.

The sound attenuation layers are positioned between at least some of the adjacent chambers.

A flow control system on an aircraft engine nacelle incorporates a plurality of translating turning vanes each having a body. An equal plurality of actuators is coupled to a trailing edge of the body of an associated one of the translating turning vanes. The actuator translates the body from a retracted position to an extended position.
