Step seal for refrigerant compressors
In some aspects, the techniques described herein relate to a refrigerant compressor, including: a stator; a rotor configured to rotate with respect to the stator; and at least one step seal between the rotor and the stator, wherein the step seal includes a first tooth and a second tooth extending from the rotor toward the stator, wherein a downstream surface of the first tooth and an upstream surface of the second tooth are arranged at an angle relative to one another, wherein the angle is less than 90°.
METHOD FOR COATING A COMPONENT
The present invention relates to a method for coating a component, wherein the component has a first and a second surface, and wherein the first and the second surface adjoin each other at an edge, in which method i) first of all, the edge between the first and the second surface is rounded, and ii) subsequently, a coating is applied to the first surface.
HIGH EFFICIENCY AXIAL FAN
A condenser fan includes a lock hub and multiple blades that are fastened to the hub. Each of the blades includes six planes, each of which having variable parameters including pitch angle, sickle, chord length, and blade curve. For each embodiment of the evaporator fan, the blades are identically configured.
SHAPED CAVITY AT INTERFACE BETWEEN JOURNAL BEARING AND ROTOR
An apparatus is provided for a turbine engine. This turbine engine apparatus includes a journal bearing extending axially along and circumferentially about an axis. The journal bearing extends radially between an inner side and an outer side. The journal bearing includes a bore, a passage and a groove. The bore extends axially within the journal bearing and is formed by the inner side. The passage extends radially within the journal bearing and is fluidly coupled with the bore and the groove. The groove is arranged at the outer side. The groove extends longitudinally within the journal bearing between a first end and a second end. The groove extends axially within the journal bearing between a first side and a second side. An axial distance between the first side and the second side changes as the groove extends longitudinally between the first end and the second end.
Gas turbine blade arrangement
A curved contour of the lateral surface of a blade arrangement includes in at least one meridian section on mutually opposite sides of a blade airfoil an intersection point that is closer to the blade airfoil front edge, and an intersection point that is closer to the blade airfoil rear edge, and a best-fit line of least square distances from the curved contour. The curved contour includes first and/or the second contour section which meet specified conditions.
Turbine rotor blade root with hollow mount with lattice support structure by additive manufacture
A turbine rotor blade root is additively manufactured and includes a shank having a radially extending chamber defined therein. A blade mount is at a radial inner end of the shank. The blade mount has a hollow interior defined therein with the hollow interior in fluid communication with the radially extending chamber. A lattice support structure is disposed within the hollow interior of the blade mount.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE PLATFORM FOR AN AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE FAN
A composite platform for an aircraft turbine engine fan includes a wall of elongate shape that is configured to extend between two fan blades. The wall has an aerodynamic external face and an internal face on which is disposed a fixing tab configured to be fixed to a fan disc. A method for manufacturing the composite platform includes the steps of: a) producing a preform by three-dimensionally weaving of fibers, b) unbinding some of the fibers of the preform to detach at least one longitudinal layer of fibers from the rest of the preform, c) inserting a metal reinforcement between this layer and the rest of the preform, and d) injecting a resin into the preform so as to form said wall and secure the reinforcement to this wall.
TURBINE BLADE AND TURBINE
A turbine blade includes: a platform; an airfoil portion extending from the platform in a blade height direction and having a pressure surface and a suction surface extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge; a blade root portion disposed on opposite side of the airfoil portion across the platform in the blade height direction and having a bearing surface; and a shank disposed between the platform and the blade root portion. The shank has: a first lateral surface having a first recess portion and disposed on a pressure surface side and along an extension direction of the blade root portion; and a second lateral surface having a second recess portion and disposed on a suction surface side and along the extension direction of the blade root portion.
Variable guide vane for gas turbine engine
A variable guide vane (VGV) described herein includes an airfoil for interacting with a fluid inside a gas path of a gas turbine engine. The airfoil is mounted to a button and rotatable with the button about an axis. The button includes a platform surface defining part of the gas path adjacent the airfoil during use. The platform surface of the button includes a depression for receiving therein part of an adjacent VGV and providing clearance between adjacent VGVs at aggressive vane angles.
