PLUMBING WITH INTERNAL FLOW GUIDES
A conduit assembly may comprise: a pipe; a plurality of hollow passages disposed through the pipe; and a plurality of flow guides disposed in the pipe, each flow guide in the plurality of flow guides at least partially defining a respective hollow passage in the plurality of hollow passages. The conduit assembly may act as a heat exchanger.
Airfoil tip pocket with augmentation features
A component for a gas turbine engine includes, among other things, an airfoil that includes a pressure sidewall and a suction sidewall that meet together at both a leading edge and a trailing edge, the airfoil extending radially from a platform to a tip, a tip pocket formed in the tip and terminating prior to the trailing edge, and one or more heat transfer augmentation devices formed in the tip pocket.
Blade having a tip cooling cavity and method of making same
A blade includes an airfoil that extends from a root end to a tip end. The airfoil includes a cooling channel defined therein. The blade further includes a tip shroud extending from the tip end, and at least one fillet coupled between the tip end and the tip shroud. The at least one fillet includes an interior wall. The interior wall at least partially defines a cavity in downstream flow communication with the cooling channel.
Turbine engine component including an axially aligned skin core passage interrupted by a pedestal
A component for a turbine engine includes a fore edge connected to an aft edge via a first surface and a second surface. Multiple cooling passages are defined within the turbine engine component. A skin core passage is defined immediately adjacent the first surface, and at least one pedestal interrupts a flow path through the skin core passage.
ROTATABLE FORGED DISC FOR A BLADED ROTOR WHEEL AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
The present invention provides a bladed rotor wheel for a gas turbine engine comprising at least a rotatable forged disc, the rotatable forged disc comprising a front surface and a back surface, at least one rim surface, and a plurality of projections located on at least a portion of at least one of the front or back surface and/or on the rim surface; wherein the projections are 3D printed features protruding outwards from the front, back and/or rim surface; the projections are arranged forming a pattern so that a heat transfer capability is created at the front, back and/or rim surface; and the ratio of the distance between projections to the forged disc external radius is lower than 0.15. Furthermore, the present invention also provides a method for manufacturing a rotatable forged disc for a bladed rotor wheel.
Mini core passage with protrusion
An airfoil includes an airfoil wall that defines leading and trailing ends and first and second sides that join the leading and trailing ends. The airfoil wall circumscribes an internal core cavity. A cooling passage network is embedded in the airfoil wall between inner and outer portions of the airfoil wall. The cooling passage network has an inlet orifice through the inner portion of the airfoil wall to receive cooling air from the internal core cavity, a sub-passage region that includes an array of pedestals, and at least one outlet orifice through the outer portion. The outer portion of the airfoil wall has a protrusion in the cooling passage network that faces toward the inlet orifice.
Insert for re-using impingement air in an airfoil, airfoil comprising an Impingement insert, turbomachine component and a gas turbine having the same
Impingement insert for an airfoil of a blade/vane of a gas turbine is provided. The impingement insert includes a double-walled section having an outer and an inner walls, that define—an inner channel at an inner surface of the inner wall, an outer channel at an outer surface of the outer wall and a middle channel between the outer and the inner walls. Impingement cooling holes are provided in the outer wall that use the cooling air of the middle channel to eject impingement jets into the outer channel. The impingement insert includes at least one extraction duct that extends between the outer and the inner walls across the middle channel, and has an inlet at the outer channel, and an outlet at the inner channel, for flowing the cooling air, after impingement, from the outer channel into the inner channel.
Engine component with cooling architecture
An engine component for a gas turbine engine, the engine component comprising a cooling architecture comprising at least one unit cell having a set of walls with a thickness, the set of walls defining fluidly separate conduits having multiple openings, each of the multiple openings having a hydraulic diameter; wherein the thickness (t) and the hydraulic diameter (D.sub.H) relate to each other by an equation:
to define a performance area factor (PAF).
Gas turbine engine, part thereof, and associated method of operation
The gas turbine engine part can have a heat sink portion having a surface having a plurality of protrusions distributed over an area of the surface, the protrusions projecting away from the surface and including protrusions being adjacent to one another and collectively forming an identifier. A flow of cooling air can be directed to the protrusions forming the identifier to cool the part.
HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS IN A COMPRESSOR CASE FOR IMPROVED TIP CLEARANCE CONTROL SYSTEM
A compressor case to blade tip clearance system comprising a rotor having blades with tips, the case including an inner case comprising at least one surface feature fluidly coupled to a distribution manifold disposed in a cooling air passageway, the at least one surface feature configured to interact with the cooling air, and a tip clearance located between the tips and the inner case; wherein the tip clearance is maintained responsive to a flow of the cooling air over the at least one surface feature.
