VERTICAL PUMP STRUCTURE
A vertical pump structure is adapted to be mounted on a water cooling tank. The vertical pump structure comprises a pump casing, an upper shaft seal, a shaft and a lower shaft seal assembly. An upper annular flange and a lower annular flange are formed on an inner surface of the pump casing. A drain space is formed between the two annular flanges. A drain hole communicates with the draining space and an internal space of the water cooling tank. The shaft is inserted through the two annular flanges. Two gaps, which are formed between the shaft and the two annular flanges, are respectively sealed by the upper shaft seal and the lower shaft seal assembly. Therefore, even if the lower shaft seal assembly fails, the upper shaft seal can still prevent leaking fluid from polluting the work place.
SEAL ASSEMBLY
A seal assembly for sealing an annular space between a first cylindrical surface and a second cylindrical surface. The annular space has high pressure zones and low pressure zones. The seal assembly has an annular seal with an inner surface that faces the second cylindrical component, an outer surface that faces the first cylindrical component, a sealing end and an engagement end. A seal actuator assembly applies a force to the engagement end of the annular seal to urge the annular seal in a first direction towards an engaged position within the annular space. The force applied to the engagement end of the annular seal has a first component aligned with the first direction and a second component that is perpendicular to the first direction. The first component is at least 1.7 times greater than the second component.
Steam turbine system and method for starting steam turbine
A steam turbine system includes: a steam turbine having a casing into which steam is fed from an outside of the casing and a rotating shaft that is provided within the casing so as to be rotatable around a central axis; a deaerator that is connected to the steam turbine and that deaerates leaked steam that has leaked from a gap between the casing and the rotating shaft to the outside of the casing; a vacuum pump that is connected to the deaerator and that lowers a pressure within the deaerator; and a shaft sealing device that is connected to the deaerator and that seals the gap between the casing and the rotating shaft. The shaft sealing device has a seal member having a seal body, a housing, a biasing member, and a negative-pressure introduction part.
Vented tangential on-board injector for a gas turbine engine
An on-board injector that delivers discharge air toward a turbine rotor of a gas turbine engine includes a second wall spaced form a first wall to define an annular inlet about an engine longitudinal axis and a multiple of airfoil shapes between the first wall and the second wall to segregate discharge air from the annular inlet, and a multiple of bypass apertures each along a radial axis transverse to the engine longitudinal axis through each of the multiple of airfoil shapes and the respective first wall, the second wall.
Conduit connection assembly
A conduit connection assembly includes a first conduit part and a second conduit part, assembled to form a conduit connection delimiting a first fluid conducting volume from a second fluid conducting volume. The first and second fluid conducting volumes communicate with each other via a pressure change inducing device. During use of the conduit connection assembly, the pressure in the first conducting volume is higher than the pressure in the second conducting volume. A cavity is formed between the first and second conduit parts at a distance from the first fluid conducting volume, and a draining connection is adapted to provide a communication between the cavity and the second fluid conducting volume. A slot, formed by the assembly of the two conduit parts, provides a communication between the first fluid conducting volume and the cavity.
Shaft seal device and vertical pump with this shaft seal device
A shaft seal device is fixed to a container that separates a high-pressure fluid and a low-pressure fluid from each other, and seals a shaft-penetrated portion of the container through which a rotational shaft extends. This shaft seal device includes: a seal casing having a through-hole through which the rotational shaft extends, the seal casing having a seal chamber which communicates with the through-hole and into which the high-pressure fluid flows; and a disk-shaped seal body which is housed in the seal chamber, the seal body being rotatable together with the rotational shaft and having an annular surface perpendicular to an axis of the rotational shaft. An inner surface of the seal casing, which faces the annular surface of the seal body and defines the seal chamber, is a flat surface perpendicular to the axis of the rotational shaft.
Gas turbine engine bearing sump and lubricant drain line from cooling passage
A gas turbine engine having a core engine. The core engine includes an inlet, a compressor section, a combustion section, a turbine section, and an exhaust. The gas turbine engine also includes a bearing sump arranged in the core engine for containing lubrication, the bearing sump and lubrication having an operational range between at least about 0 F. and about 550 F.
Roof box for transporting luggage on a vehicle roof
The invention relates to a roof box for transporting luggage on a vehicle roof, comprising: a hollow body (1), which can be mounted on the roof rails (10) of a vehicle and which is provided with an opening (2a), through which it is possible to access the interior which is intended for luggage; a flap (3a), which is pivotally connected to the hollow body (1) and which can be pivoted from a closed position, in which it (3a) closes the opening (2a), to an open position, in which it (3a) does not obstruct the opening (2a), and vice versa; fastening means for fastening the hollow body (1), detachably if required, to the roof rails (10) of a vehicle. According to the invention, the opening (2a) is located in a side face of the hollow body (1).
REGENERATIVE BLOWERS-COMPRESSORS WITH SHAFT BYPASS FLUID RE-VENTS
A regenerative blower-compressor includes an impeller mounted to a drive shaft within a housing including a channel extending from an inlet adjacent to a low fluid-pressure region of the channel to an outlet adjacent to a high fluid-pressure region of the channel, the impeller extends radially outward through an annular volume within the housing from the drive shaft to blades in the channel and is configured to rotate for rotating the blades through the channel for forcing fluid through the channel from the inlet to the outlet in response to rotation of the drive shaft, the drive shaft extends from the impeller within the annular volume to into a shaft chamber within the housing configured to receive fluid from the high fluid-pressure region of the channel, and a port configured to vent fluid directly from the shaft chamber to into the low fluid-pressure region of the channel.
