METHOD FOR STARTING A GAS TURBINE IN A COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT

A method for starting and stopping a gas turbine in a combined cycle power plant, wherein the gas turbine includes a compressor having adjustable guide vanes and the gas turbine power can also be controlled by opening the guide vanes. When the gas turbine is started, it is driven up to a base load or up to an emission-compliant load point, and the guide vanes are opened before the base load or the emission-compliant load point is reached.

Combustion system control

A method of controlling a combustion system of a gas turbine engine which has a combustor with a primary combustion zone, of which a condition in the primary combustion zone is defined by a primary zone control parameter. The method includes controlling the primary zone control parameter to be substantially constant value over a range of values of compressor inlet air temperature.

Combustion device and gas turbine

A combustion device includes an ammonia supply unit supplying primary reduction ammonia as a nitrogen oxide reducing agent into a combustor and mixing secondary reduction ammonia with combustion exhaust gas discharged from the combustor to reduce nitrogen oxide contained in the combustion exhaust gas and a controller configured to control at least one of the amount of supply of the primary reduction ammonia and the amount of mixing of the secondary reduction ammonia with the combustion exhaust gas in accordance with concentrations of residual nitrogen oxide and residual ammonia contained in the combustion exhaust gas after being discharged from the combustor.

Combustor liner dilution opening

An apparatus and method for a combustor, the combustor including combustor liner having a plurality of dilution openings. The combustor receives a flow of fuel that is ignited and mixed with dilution air to form a flow of combustion gases. The flow of combustion gases travels through the combustor to a turbine section of an engine.

A method of operating a combustion system (16) for a gas turbine (10), the combustor system (16) comprises a main fuel supply (72, 73), a pilot fuel supply (74), a combustion chamber (38). The method comprises the steps supplying a first fuel flow through the main fuel supply (72) and the pilot fuel supply (74), monitoring a composition of the first fuel, monitoring combustion instability, reducing the first fuel flow through the pilot fuel supply (74) to zero when the first fuel composition has a) a hydrogen content ≥5% by volume and/or b) a high-HC content ≥5% by volume and the combustion instability<a predetermined value.

Combustion device and gas turbine engine system

A combustion device burns fuel ammonia in a combustion chamber using compressed combustion air, and includes a combustion air cooling unit which is configured to cool the combustion air by heat exchange with the fuel ammonia during or before a compression process.

Systems and methods for extended emissions compliant operation of a gas turbine engine

A method of operating a rotary machine below a minimum emissions compliance load in a response mode includes reducing a fuel split to zero. The fuel split apportions a total flow of fuel to the combustor between a first combustion zone and a second combustion zone. The method also includes determining a current operating temperature of the first combustion zone using a digital simulation of the rotary machine. The method further includes determining a target operating temperature of the first combustion zone. The target operating temperature enables the rotary machine to operate below a traditional Minimum Emissions Compliance Load (MECL) while still in compliance with emissions standards. The method also includes channeling a first flow of fuel to the first combustion zone. The first flow of fuel decreases the temperature of the first combustion zone to the target operating temperature.
