Method for making high lubricity abradable material and abradable coating

An abradable powder composition is includes a metal component, a lubricant component, and a polymer component. A portion of the metal component is wrapped in the lubricant component to achieve high lubricity and abradability. The abradable powder composition can be used to form an abradable seal coating provided for use in a turbo machinery having a housing and a wheel having multiple blades. The housing houses the wheel which rotates therein. The seal coating is formed on the inner walls of housing adjacent where the wheel blades pass during their rotation. When the wheel is rotated such that the blades contact the seal coating, it is abraded to form a close fit gap. The abradable seal coating preferably does not produce significant wear of the blade tips or transfer abradable material significantly to the blade tips upon being abraded.

Turbine housing

A turbocharger system may include a turbine housing and a tongue insert. The turbine housing may include an inlet, an outlet, and a gas pathway between the inlet and outlet. The gas pathway may include a volute portion and an inlet portion extending approximately tangent to the volute portion. The turbine housing may be formed from a first material. The tongue insert may be received in the turbine housing and may at least partially define the volute portion and the inlet portion. The tongue insert may be formed from a second material that is more heat resistant than the first material.

A propeller blade assembly comprises a propeller blade having a blade root for attaching the propeller blade to a hub. The blade root has a radially outer surface. The assembly further comprises a collar mounted to the blade root. The collar comprises at least two collar segments assembled around the radially outer surface of the blade root. Each collar segment has a radially inner surface, an opposed radially outward surface and first and second circumferential end lugs. The lugs receive fasteners for coupling the collar segments together to form the collar. The collar segments are formed from a flexible plastics material and the radially inner surface of each collar segments engages the radially outer surface of the blade root only over a limited circumferential extent of the collar segment.

METHODS AND ARTICLES RELATING TO IONIC LIQUID BATH PLATING OF ALUMINUM-CONTAINING LAYERS UTILIZING SHAPED CONSUMABLE ALUMINUM ANODES

Ionic liquid bath plating methods for depositing aluminum-containing layers utilizing shaped consumable aluminum anodes are provided, as are turbomachine components having three dimensionally-tailored, aluminum-containing coatings produced from such aluminum-containing layers. In one embodiment, the ionic liquid bath plating method includes the step or process of obtaining a consumable aluminum anode including a workpiece-facing anode surface substantially conforming with the geometry of the non-planar workpiece surface. The workpiece-facing anode surface and the non-planar workpiece surface are positioned in an adjacent, non-contacting relationship, while the workpiece and the consumable aluminum anode are submerged in an ionic liquid aluminum plating bath. An electrical potential is then applied across the consumable aluminum anode and the workpiece to deposit an aluminum-containing layer onto the non-planar workpiece surface. In certain implementations, additional steps are then performed to convert or incorporate the aluminum-containing layer into a high temperature aluminum-containing coating, such as an aluminide coating.

Method of forming an inflated aerofoil

Labyrinth seal and method for producing a labyrinth seal
09746085 · 2017-08-29 · ·

A labyrinth seal for sealing a sealing region between a rotor and stator of a rotary machine includes, a base, and a plurality of sealing rings. The sealing rings are formed on the base, project into the sealing region and form, between them labyrinth valleys bounded, laterally, by the sealing rings and, in the floor of the valleys, by the base. The sealing rings, in at least one region, include at least one material which is different from that of the base.

Overmolded flux ring

An overmolded steel flux ring member for an eddy-current fan drive assembly. The flux ring member includes a base member having a hub member, an annular outer ring member, and a plurality of connecting arm members. An overmolding material, such as aluminum, is overmolded on the annular outer ring member preferably in separate sections. Ventilation openings in said base member allow air to flow past a magnet ring for cooling.

System and Method for Rejuvenating Coated Components of Gas Turbine Engines
