Vane made of composite material comprising metallic reinforcements, and method for manufacturing such a vane

A method for manufacturing a blade made of composite material for a turbine engine, in particular of an aircraft, the steps of injecting a resin in order to impregnate a fibrous preform woven in three dimensions and polymerizing the resin so as to form the blade that includes an airfoil, one longitudinal end of which is connected to a platform. The platform includes pressure and suction portions connected to the airfoil by a fillet, wherein a separation is formed in the fibrous preform between the pressure and suction portions. The method further includes reinforcing a leading edge of the airfoil; and reinforcing the fillets by integration of a metal reinforcement on at least one part of the pressure and suction portions of the platform and in the separation.

Vane arc segment formed of fiber-reinforced composite

A vane arc segment includes an airfoil fairing that has a fairing platform and a hollow airfoil section that extends there from. The hollow airfoil section defines an airfoil profile and surrounds an internal cavity. The fairing platform defines a gaspath side and a non-gaspath side. The airfoil fairing is formed of a fiber-reinforced composite comprised of fiber plies. The fiber plies include at least one cavity fiber ply that is arranged as a tube that circumscribes the internal cavity. The at least one cavity fiber ply extends through the fairing platform and defines at least a portion of an upstanding collar on the non-gaspath side of the fairing platform. The upstanding collar defines a collar profile. The tube necks down through a neck portion such that at least a portion of the collar profile is narrower than the airfoil profile.

An abradable coating for a turbomachine part, includes a matrix made of a first metal material and particles made of a second metal material that are dispersed in the matrix, the first metal material having a melting temperature greater than 900° C., the second metal material having a melting temperature at least 50° C. lower than the melting temperature of the first metal material.

Erosion protection coating with screen

The present invention includes an apparatus for protecting an aerodynamic surface from erosion including a screen capable of being applied to a leading edge of the aerodynamic surface; and an erosion protection coating applied to the screen before or after the screen is applied to the leading edge, wherein the erosion protection coating protects the aerodynamic surface from erosion.

Additive Manufacturing of Complex Objects Using Refractory Matrix Materials

A method for the manufacture of a three-dimensional object using a refractory matrix material is provided. The method includes the additive manufacture of a green body from a powder-based refractory matrix material followed by densification via chemical vapor infiltration (CVI). The refractory matrix material can be a refractory ceramic (e.g., silicon carbide, zirconium carbide, or graphite) or a refractory metal (e.g., molybdenum or tungsten). In one embodiment, the matrix material is deposited according to a binder-jet printing process to produce a green body having a complex geometry. The CVI process increases its density, provides a hermetic seal, and yields an object with mechanical integrity. The residual binder content dissociates and is removed from the green body prior to the start of the CVI process as temperatures increase in the CVI reactor. The CVI process selective deposits a fully dense coating on all internal and external surfaces of the finished object.

Vane with pin mount and anti-rotation stabilizer rod

A vane arc segment includes an airfoil fairing that has first and second fairing platforms and a hollow airfoil section extending there between. There is a spar having a spar platform adjacent the first fairing platform and a spar leg that extends from the spar platform and through the hollow airfoil section. The spar leg has an end portion with a clevis mount that that protrudes from the second fairing platform. A support platform adjacent the second fairing platform has first and second through-holes. The end portion of the spar leg extends through the first through-hole and a pin extends though the clevis mount to lock the support platform to the spar leg. A stabilizer rod extends through the second through-hole of the support platform and limits rotation of the support platform about the pin.

A support system for an airfoil piece in a gas turbine engine includes first and second support platforms for supporting the airfoil piece there between. Each of the support platforms defines a forward support platform side, an aft support platform side, a first support platform circumferential side, a second support platform circumferential side, an airfoil side, and a non-airfoil side. The airfoil side of at least one of the support platforms has a radial channel therein for receiving a complementary radial flange of the airfoil piece. Each radial channel includes a radial channel first leg portion extending adjacent the aft support platform side, a radial channel second leg portion that extends from the radial channel first leg portion and that curves toward the forward support platform side, and a radial channel third leg portion that extends from the second leg portion toward the forward support platform side.
