BALL JOINT SEAL STRUCTURE AND FERRULE RING MOUNTING METHOD
20250230836 · 2025-07-17 ·

The disclosure provides a ball joint seal structure that includes a ferrule ring interposed between a small-diameter opening portion of a dust cover and a knuckle. The ball joint connects the knuckle to a stud, and a ball head provided on the end of the stud is accommodated in a socket in a rockable and rotatable manner. The dust cover connects a large-diameter opening that surrounds the socket, which houses the ball head, and a small-diameter opening portion, which surrounds the stud, by a membrane. The ferrule ring includes an annular portion that suppresses the entry of dust through a cutout produced when, for example, a pinch bolt type knuckle is adopted, and has an inclined portion, which inclines toward the dust cover, on the outer circumferential edge thereof.

Joint assembly

A steer axle assembly for an axle including a first steering component, a second steering component, and a movable joint assembly coupled to the first steering component and the second steering component. The movable joint is configured for axial movement and rotational movement to provide for relative movement between the first and second steering components. The first steering component is produced from a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The second steering component is produced from a second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion, wherein the second coefficient of thermal expansion is different from the first coefficient of thermal expansion.

PROTECTIVE CAP FOR PARTIALLY COVERING A PRE-ASSEMBLED OR FULLY ASSEMBLED VEHICLE COMPONENT

A protective cap (1, 9, 12) for the partial covering of a pre-fitted or a fully fitted vehicle component (11). The protective cap (1, 9, 12) is made from a biogenic and/or renewable raw material.

AIR BEARING FOR USE AS SEAL

In order to effect a seal a porous material which comprises one side of two opposing surfaces is used to restrict and evenly distribute externally pressurized gas, liquid, steam, etc. between the two surfaces, exerting a force which is opposite the forces from pressure differences or springs trying to close the two faces together and so may create a non-contact seal that is more stable and reliable than hydrodynamic seals currently in use. A non-contact bearing is also disclosed having opposing surfaces with relative motion and one surface issuing higher than ambient pressure through a porous restriction, wherein the porous restriction is part of a monolithic porous body, or a porous layer, attached to lands containing a labyrinth, the porous restriction and lands configured to not distort more than 10% of a gap created from differential pressure between each side of the porous restriction.

Low torque ball socket assembly

The ball socket assembly includes a housing with at least one open end and with an inner surface that surrounds an inner bore which extends along a central axis. The ball socket assembly also includes a ball stud that has a ball portion and a shank portion. The ball portion is disposed in the inner bore of the housing and has an outer diameter which is in a spherical fit relationship with the inner surface of the housing. The shank portion of the ball stud extends out of the inner bore through the at least one open end of the housing. The ball portion is out of contact with any bearings on opposite axial sides of the ball portion such that the ball stud is able to move along the central axis relative to the housing.

Folding Mechanism

A folding mechanism comprises a first folding body, a second folding body and a first clamping piece, the second folding body is provided with a second clamping piece, and the first folding body connected to the first clamping piece; and when the first folding body and the second folding body are unfolded, abutting parts of the first clamping piece are clamped in the second clamping piece, and a gap is formed between a non-abutting part of the first clamping piece and the second folding body. The first clamping piece connected to the first folding body is clamped in the second clamping piece on the second folding body to fix the first folding body and the second folding body when the first folding body and the second folding body are unfolded, and the gap is reserved to avoid shakes.

VEHICLE STEERING ASSEMBLY
20210156417 · 2021-05-27 · ·

A vehicle steering assembly that includes a housing, a pinion shaft, a seal, a protector and a dust cover. The housing defines a bore with the pinion shaft extending therethrough. The seal is disposed within the bore spaced apart from the end of the housing. The seal extends around the pinion shaft creating a seal therebetween. The housing and the pinion shaft define an annular space therebetween and between an opening at one end of the housing and the seal. The protector is fitted to the housing covering a portion of the opening and the annular space. The protector has a shaft receiving opening with the pinion shaft extending therethrough and out of the housing. The dust cover is attached to the housing completely covering the protector and the opening of the bore.

Boot with Lubricant Relief
20210054873 · 2021-02-25 ·

A boot for a ball socket assembly in an automotive pivoting and/or rotating socket having a flange with one or more thinned sections or gates adjacent a point of attachment to a socket housing that provides an effective seal against contaminants when lubricant is not being added with external pressure and also flexes when exposed to internal pressure allowing contaminated lubricant to escape from the socket. A ring is embedded in the flange with inwardly directed teeth flanking the thinned sections or gates for securing the boot to the socket housing.
