20170350441 · 2017-12-07 ·

The socket assembly has a housing with an inner bore which extends from a first end to a second end. A ball portion of a ball stud is received in the inner bore. A backing bearing is disposed in the inner bore and presents a curved bearing surface in surface-to-surface contact with the ball portion. A first spring biases the backing bearing against the ball portion. The socket assembly also includes an exit bearing with a cylindrical portion that is in contact with an equator of the ball portion and a semi-spherical portion that is in surface-to-surface contact with an opposite hemisphere from the first bearing surface. A second spring biases the exit bearing into a predetermined location established by the housing. The exit bearing is movable from the predetermined location in a direction towards the second end of the housing against a biasing force of the second spring.

A joining structure according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a first member and a second member, the first member having a hole extending along an axis direction, the second member including a shaft member, the shaft member being formed of a fiber-containing composite material and having a shape to fit in the hole, the second member being joined to the first member via the shaft member so that movement thereof in the axis direction is restricted.

PIVOT BEARING OF A HYDRAULIC CLEARANCE COMPENSATION ELEMENT

A pivot bearing (1) for a hydraulic clearance compensation element (2), especially of a valve train of an internal combustion engine, is provided in which the pivot bearing (1) has a first part (3) projecting in an axial direction (a) with a surface (4) that is convex at least in some sections and also a second part (5) with a surface (6) that is concave at least in some sections for at least partially holding the first part (3). To optimize the production of such a pivot bearing and to minimize the associated costs, the invention provides that the first part (3) is constructed at least partially as a ball, wherein the second part (5) surrounds the ball (3) with undercut in the axial direction (a).

BALL JOINT PRESS

A ball joint press includes a first frame including a first member and a first adaptor, and a second frame including a second member and a second adaptor. A link is pivotally coupled to the first member and to the second the second member. An actuating screw is rotatably coupled to the first member and to the second member. Rotation of the actuating screw in a first rotational direction causes the first member and second member to undergo a first pivoting action relative to the link to move the first adaptor toward the second adaptor. Rotation of the actuating screw in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction causes the first member and second member to undergo a second pivoting action relative to the link, opposite to the first pivot action, to move the first adaptor away from the second adaptor.

A device including a ball, cage housing the ball and a centering lug, wherein the centering lug has a generally annular form with a radially outer annular periphery and a radially inner annular periphery, the outer annular periphery is integral with the cage and the inner annular periphery is inserted in a groove in the outer periphery of the ball, and the centering lug is elastic and arranged to hold the ball along a predefined axis in a rest position.

Slotted Entry Bearing With Molded Seal
20170292563 · 2017-10-12 ·

A method of manufacturing a slotted entry bearing assembly includes inserting an inner race into a central space of an outer race. The outer race is configured to receive the inner race through at least one slot. Once the inner race is fully inserted into the outer race, it is rotated approximately ninety degrees within the center space, effectively locking the inner race within the outer race. After the inner race is rotated ninety degrees, a molded seal is molded between the inner race and the at least one slot. The molded seal adheres to the at least one slot and is made of a polymeric material. The molding process used to mold the molded seal may be compression molding.

BALL JOINT

A ball joint has a bushing with a defined housing space sized to receive ball joint components. The ball joint further has a cage member having an exterior surface that fits within the housing recess and an interior surface with a pattern of raised and recessed portions, and a cup member over-molded on the cage member component. The cup member complements the interior surface pattern of the cage member and includes an interior surface having a circular configuration. The ball joint also has a stem having a ball portion dimensioned to fit within and complement the interior surface of the cup member.

Ball joint and manufacturing method therefor

A ball joint is manufactured by molding a holder through casting by using a ball as a core and joining a shaft member to the ball after the casting through electric resistance welding. The ball joint includes: the ball; a resin sliding contact member including a first opening portion and a second opening portion that expose a spherical surface of the ball in opposite directions; the holder molded through the casting by using the ball and the resin sliding contact member as a core, the holder being obtained by integrally molding a closing portion that is held in contact with a part of the ball, which projects from the second opening portion of the resin sliding contact member; and the shaft member joined to another part of the ball, which is exposed from the first opening portion of the resin sliding contact member, through the electric resistance welding.

SINGLE SLOT LOADER SLOT BEARING

A loader slot bearing includes a housing and a truncated ball. The housing has an interior area that is defined by an inner bearing surface which has a concave contour defining a circumference. A single slot extends axially partway into the inner bearing surface and has a slot arc section area extending axially inward. The slot arc section area has a first circumferential slot-end, a second circumferential slot-end, and a slot arc length measured between the first circumferential slot-end and the second circumferential slot-end. A ratio of the slot arc length to the circumference of the interior area is about 0.20 to 0.35. The truncated ball has a convex exterior surface. The truncated ball is positioned in the slot and rotated so that the truncated ball is rotatably retained by the inner bearing surface. The truncated ball is angularly misalignable relative to the annular housing.
