The half bearing further includes a plurality of axial narrow grooves formed on the groove surface so as to be back away from the groove surface toward the radially outer side, that extend in the axial direction of the half bearing.

The oil-retaining bearing has at least one connection section mated with the mating section. The connection section and the mating section are mated with each other so that the oil-retaining bearing is securely disposed in the bearing hole. Each bearing pad includes an internal cooling opening defined in the bearing pad and an internal channel network defined in the bearing pad with at least one channel node in fluid communication with the internal cooling opening and at least two passageways in fluid communication with and extending from the channel node through the bearing pad. At least one of the passageways extends to an exterior surface of the bearing pad to define at least one cooling discharge opening.

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a rotary shaft supporting structure which is capable of supporting a rotary shaft for a longer period. This rotary shaft supporting structure, which supports a rotary shaft on which a thrust collar that protrudes outwards in the radial direction is formed, has: thrust bearings which face the thrust collar, and support, using support surfaces, the thrust collar surfaces that are orthogonal to the axial direction of the rotary shaft; and support mechanisms which support the thrust bearings in the axial direction from the surface side of support surfaces at the opposite side to the thrust collar. The sides of the support mechanisms that face the end surfaces of the thrust bearings are inclined in the direction orthogonal to the direction in which the rotary shaft tilts.

The hydrodynamic bearing system may further include a first journal bearing including a first fluid interface surrounding at least a portion of the first cantilever shaft and configured to support radial loads and a second journal bearing including a second fluid interface surrounding at least a portion of the second cantilever shaft and configured to support radial loads.

Sliding bearings 5a to 5c support rotation shafts on cylinder inner surface in a rotatable manner. Each of the sliding bearings 5a to 5c is formed of a molded member of a non-oil-impregnated resin composition that does not contain oil. The resin composition contains an injection-moldable ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene resin as a base resin, a polytetrafluoroethylene resin as an additive, and an acicular inorganic filler having Mohs hardness of 3 or less. The resin composition contains 65 vol % or more of the ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene resin, 5-25 vol % of the polytetrafluoroethylene resin, and 1-20 vol % of the acicular inorganic filler, based on the whole of the resin composition.

A bearing condition monitoring device is a bearing condition monitoring device for monitoring a condition of a thrust bearing for holding a rotational shaft in a thrust direction. The bearing condition monitoring device includes a first temperature sensor for measuring a temperature of the thrust bearing, and an arithmetic device for counting a frequency at which an evaluation index of a thrust load on the basis of a measurement value by the first temperature sensor exceeds an allowable value, and for outputting an abnormality in the condition of the thrust bearing if the counted frequency exceeds a threshold. The arithmetic device may count, as the frequency, only a case where a state in which the thrust load exceeds an upper limit load continues for not less than a predetermined time.
