Bearing
A bearing includes a bearing pad for supporting a rotary component and a housing attached to or formed integrally with the bearing pad. The housing defines a first fluid damper cavity positioned adjacent to the bearing pad and a second fluid damper cavity spaced from the first fluid damper cavity. The first and the second fluid damper cavities are in restrictive flow communication. The housing is configured to transfer a fluid from the first fluid damper cavity to the second fluid damper cavity in response to a force acting on the bearing pad to dampen a movement of the bearing pad.
GAS BEARING SYSTEM
A bearing assembly for stabilizing rotation of a rotatable element includes a gas bearing acting as a bearing for the rotatable element. An ultrasonic vibration pump is coupled to the gas bearing for providing pressurized gas to the gas bearing, and a sealed housing encloses the gas bearing and the ultrasonic vibration pump. Also described is a reaction wheel assembly for a spacecraft. The reaction wheel assembly includes a reaction wheel and the bearing assembly for stabilizing rotation of the reaction wheel.
LUBRICANT SUPPORTED EXTERNAL ROTOR ARCHITECTURES
A lubricant supported electric motor includes a stator and a rotor and a drive hub. The rotor is moveable relative to the stator and a gap is defined between the rotor and the stator. A lubricant is disposed within the gap to support the rotor relative to the stator and provide a bearing mechanism. The drive hub is coupled to the rotor such that rotation of the rotor causes rotation of the drive hub. The drive hub may be connected to the rotor via a coupler member that is torsionally stiff and axially and radially compliant. The stator may be fixed relative to a connection structure that extends radially within the stator. The connection member may support the drive hub for rotation. Lubricant is supplied via a passageway extending through the connection member into a chamber that includes the gap.
TILTING PAD BEARING
A tilting pad bearing includes a plurality of pads slidably supporting an outside surface of a rotor shaft, a housing covering the plurality of pads, a support portion swingably supporting the pad with respect to the housing, and a fluid supply unit configured to supply a fluid to a pad surface.
The support portion includes a pivot having a pad support surface in contact with a pad outside surface and a pivot curved surface curved facing and protruding toward a side opposite to the pad support surface, a liner having a first liner surface in contact with the pivot curved surface, and a biasing member biasing the liner toward the pivot with respect to the housing.
POROUS GAS BEARING
A porous gas bearing is disclosed. The porous gas bearing includes a housing having a fluid inlet and an aperture. A porous surface layer is disposed within the housing surrounding the aperture in a circumferential direction. The porous surface layer is in fluid communication with the fluid inlet. A damping system includes a damping system including a biasing member, the biasing member being disposed in a passageway that extends along the longitudinal direction of the aperture and circumferentially about the aperture, wherein the biasing member is arranged radially outward from the porous surface layer.
ELECTRICAL MACHINE AND ROTOR FOR AN ELECTRICAL MACHINE
An electrical machine includes a stator with a stator body supporting an electrical stator and a rotor. The rotor is supported by a bearing having a radial bearing section forming a radial gas bearing and an axial bearing section forming an axial gas bearing, the stator side parts of these bearing sections being a stator side radial bearing part and a stator side axial bearing part that are rigidly connected to one another and together form a stator bearing structure. The stator bearing structure is mounted to the other parts of the stator by either the stator side radial or axial bearing part being rigidly mounted to these other parts, and the other bearing part are connected to these other parts by an elastic support or not at all.
Fluid film bearing for a wind turbine
A fluid bearing for a wind turbine including a bearing housing, a plurality of bearing pads inside the bearing housing and circumferentially distributed around a longitudinal axis of the fluid bearing, a plurality of supporting structures, each supporting structure having at least a first interface detachably connected to a respective seat provided in the bearing housing and at least a second interface detachably connected to a respective bearing pad of the plurality of bearing pads, the supporting structure including an elastomer allowing tilting of the respective bearing pad parallel to the longitudinal axis, the elastomer being interposed between the respective seat and the respective bearing pad is provided.
FLUID FILM BEARING AND WIND TURBINE
Provided is a fluid film bearing, for a rotor hub in a wind turbine, including a first and second part rotatably connected to each other, wherein the first part forms a first annular sliding surface that extends in the circumferential direction of the bearing along the first part, wherein the second part includes a support structure and first pads distributed along the circumference of the support structure, wherein a respective pad sliding surface of each of the first pads or of a first subgroup of the first pads supports the first annular sliding surface, wherein each first pad includes a mounting section that is mounted to a backside of the support structure, a contact section that is either forming the respective pad sliding surface or carrying a coating that forms the respective pad sliding surface and a connecting section that connects the contact section with the mounting section.
ELECTRICAL MACHINE
An electrical machine has a stator with a stator body supporting an electrical stator and a rotor. The rotor is supported by bearing including a radial bearing section forming a radial gas bearing and an axial bearing section forming an axial gas bearing, the stator side parts of these bearing sections being a stator side radial bearing part and a stator side axial bearing part that are rigidly connected to one another and together form a stator bearing structure. The stator side radial bearing part is a bushing, and is radially surrounded by a cooling body. The bushing is connected to the cooling body by an elastic support comprising a thermally conducting filler.
Hydrostatic bearing for supporting a telescope
A hydrostatic bearing is provided which may include foot part supporting a load-carrying unit, a head part, and body part forming a lower chamber and an upper chamber. A lower member is supported by the load-carrying unit and arranged inside the lower chamber. An upper member is controllable by a pressurizing fluid and arranged inside the upper chamber. The lower member is controllably moveable along a central axis of the hydrostatic bearing between a retracted state, where the lower member is distanced from the upper member, and an extended state, where the lower member is also in contact with the upper member. The hydrostatic bearing acts both as a conventional slave bearing and a conventional master bearing.
