Shiftable clutch of a hybrid drive

The invention describes a switchable clutch for a motor vehicle with hybrid drive, wherein the hybrid drive has a voltage system with a voltage exceeding the 12-volt on-board electrical system voltage of the motor vehicle, composed of a friction disk clutch with an actuator, which can have electricity applied to it, for the actuation of the friction disk clutch in the sense of opening or closing, and wherein the actuator can be actuated with a voltage of the voltage system of the hybrid drive, said voltage exceeding the 12-volt on-board electrical system voltage of the motor vehicle.

A vehicle transfer case is provided including input and output shafts mounted within a housing, a secondary shaft selectively driven by the output shaft, a first hub having an inner diameter splined section having a first extreme neutral position with exclusive torsional engagement with the output shaft, and in a second intermediate high position having torsional engagement with the output shaft and input shafts, and in a third extreme low position having exclusive torsional engagement with the input shaft. A second hub is provided, rotatably mounted on the first hub and axially fixed therewith. The second hub is torsionally fixed to the output shaft, and a shift fork is provided to translate the second hub. A planetary gear set is provided, having a ring gear, a plurality of planet gears connected to each other by a carrier and a sun gear; and wherein in the extreme neutral position the output shaft is disengaged from the input shaft, and in the second intermediate position the input shaft is directly connected to the output shaft without rotating the planetary gear set, and in the extreme third position the first hub torsionally connects the input shaft to the sun gear, and the second hub is connected with the carrier.

CLUTCH DEVICE

A clutch device includes an outer member including a cylindrical part having an inner peripheral surface provided with outer projections extending in an axial direction; an inner member rotatable relative to the outer member; an outer friction member engaging with the outer projections such that the outer friction member is movable in the axial direction and rotation of the outer friction member relative to the outer member is restricted; an inner friction member whose rotation relative to the inner member is restricted, and which generates a frictional force between the inner and outer friction members; and a lubricating oil sealed in a clutch chamber located between the outer member and the inner member. The outer member is provided with an oil pocket recessed to a position outward of a bottom surface of a recessed part located between a pair of adjacent outer projections among the outer projections.

A clutch device includes an outer member including a cylindrical part having an inner peripheral surface provided with outer projections extending in an axial direction; an inner member rotatable relative to the outer member; an outer friction member engaging with the outer projections such that the outer friction member is movable in the axial direction and rotation of the outer friction member relative to the outer member is restricted; an inner friction member whose rotation relative to the inner member is restricted, and which generates a frictional force between the inner and outer friction members; and a lubricating oil sealed in a clutch chamber located between the outer member and the inner member. The friction clutch assembly includes a friction plate member connected to a central rotatable shaft member used for operating the vehicle accessory. A pair of friction lining members are positioned on opposite sides of the friction plate member. An armature member is spring biased to axially force the friction plate member and friction lining member against a housing or cover which is rotating at input speed. A solenoid assembly is used to overcome the spring bias and pull the armature and friction plate member away from the housing.

A fail-safe friction clutch assembly for a vehicle accessory, particularly to drive a vehicle cooling pump, and more particularly as part of a dual mode drive for a cooling pump, together with an electric motor. The friction clutch assembly includes a friction plate member connected to a central rotatable shaft member used for operating the vehicle accessory. A pair of friction lining members are positioned on opposite sides of the friction plate member. An armature member is spring biased to axially force the friction plate member and friction lining member against a housing or cover which is rotating at input speed. A solenoid assembly is used to overcome the spring bias and pull the armature and friction plate member away from the housing.

Power transmission device

A power transmission device includes an armature that is shaped into a circular ring form. The armature is configured to be coupled with a rotor by an electromagnetic attractive force of an electromagnet at a time of energizing the electromagnet and is configured to be decoupled from the rotor at a time of deenergizing the electromagnet. The armature has an armature-side friction surface that is configured to contact a rotor-side friction surface of the rotor at the time of energizing the electromagnet. The armature-side friction surface has a plurality of grooves, each of which extends from a radially inner end portion of the armature-side friction surface to a location that is on a radially inner side of a radially outer end portion of the armature-side friction surface.

A portion of the synchronizer may be configured to extend through the aperture. In the absence of a magnetic field, the first clutch plate and the first surface of the second clutch plate may define an air gap and the portion of the synchronizer may extend into the air gap. In response to a first magnetic field, the portion of the synchronizer may contact the first clutch plate. In response to a second magnetic field, the portion of the synchronizer may translate in the aperture toward the second clutch plate and the first clutch plate and the second clutch plate may close the air gap.
