Brake assembly with active piston retraction
A brake assembly comprises: a brake piston configured to be movable for a brake apply or release and having an inner wall forming a piston cavity, wherein a groove is formed on the inner wall of the brake piston; a linearly movable structure positioned within the piston cavity of the brake piston and configured to be linearly movable within the piston cavity; and a resilient material, wherein a part of the resilient material is located within the groove formed on the inner wall of the brake piston and the other part of the resilient material is disposed on an outer surface of the linearly movable structure so that the resilient material is engageable with a surface of the groove formed on the inner wall of the brake piston to move the brake piston by restoring force of the resilient material in response to linear movement of the linearly movable structure.

Disc brake assembly
A disc brake assembly is provided that includes a camshaft extending from a slack adjuster. A disc brake rotor and a brake caliper bridge having an outer plate and an inner plate are provided. A brake caliper carrier is provided with an outer brake pad contained by the brake caliper carrier and an inner brake pad contained by the brake caliper carrier. A cam carrier having two openings is provided along with a pusher plate having a first surface in contact with the cam and a second surface in contact with the inner brake pad. A first and a second slide pin each extend through an opening in the cam carrier and an opening in the pusher plate and an opening in the inner plate of the brake caliper bridge and into the brake caliper carrier. A cam is mounted onto the camshaft such that rotation of the camshaft will rotate the cam, and the brake caliper bridge inner plate having a surface in contact with the cam. The brake caliper bridge outer plate having a surface in contact with the outer brake pad, such that upon rotation of the camshaft and the cam, the pusher plate adjusts the axial position of the inner brake pad and the brake caliper bridge outer plate adjusts the axial position of the outer brake pad, actuating the brake.

Electromagnetic-released, multi-disc enclosed safety brake
An electromagnetic-released, multi-disc, enclosed safety brake for primary use in offshore marine winch applications includes a stationary coil housing that encompasses springs that apply pressure to an armature, a pair of separator plates, three friction plates and a stationary endplate. The multi-disc brake is released by means of a DC voltage applied to the brake coil. The excited coil generates an electromagnetic force that attracts the armature across an air-gap thus reducing the spring force applied to the disc pack. The brake is applied when the DC voltage is removed from the brake coil. Various structures and methodologies for reducing vibrations in the brake are also provided.
