TERMINATION ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to an umbilical termination assembly for terminating a cable or umbilical. The termination assembly comprises a plurality of umbilical elements extending from an umbilical and which pass through a bulkhead plate. The seated ball element has a spherical body through which an umbilical element passes. The ball element is seated in a cup member which allows the ball element to rotate through a large range of angles allowing it to be aligned with the umbilical element without the umbilical element needing to be manipulated or forced into position. The umbilical element can then be attached to the ball element which is supported by the cup member on the bulkhead. This allows the axial tension in the umbilical element to be transferred to the bulkhead.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING LINEAR ACTUATOR
A control device for controlling a linear actuator having a linear motor and a brake device includes a magnetic pole position estimation means to estimate which of a plurality of sections obtained by dividing a magnetic pole position of 0 to 360, the mover is located in on the basis of a direction of movement of the mover by pulse energization, a magnetic pole position setting means to perform direct current excitation at an estimated magnetic pole position estimated by the magnetic pole position estimation means and set the estimated magnetic pole position as a magnetic pole position of the mover, and a brake control means to turn on a brake device before pulse energization by the magnetic pole position estimation means is performed and turn off the brake device after the magnetic pole position estimation means estimates the section in which the mover is located.

HYBRID BRAKE-BY-WIRE SYSTEM USING A MOTOR-MAGNETOSTRICTIVE ACTUATOR COMBINATION
The present invention discloses a motor-magnetostrictive actuator hybrid brake-by-wire system. The system includes a motor, a transmission mechanism, a magnetostrictive-driving piston mechanism and a floating-caliper disc mechanism. The transmission mechanism includes a planetary gear set and a screw set, and is driven by the motor. The linear motion of the sleeve is achieved by the planetary gear set and screw set. The sleeve pushes forward the piston head of the magnetostrictive-driving piston mechanism and the piston head pushes forward the brake pad back plate of the floating-caliper disc mechanism to clamp the brake disc, which accomplishes braking. The present invention uses the motor and the magnetostrictive-driving piston mechanism as a combined BBW system, which will simultaneously solve the problems of slow response, low precision and motor stalling effect of the only motor-driving braking systems and, also avoid the drawback of insufficient mechanical capabilities of the only magnetostrictive actuator-driving braking systems.
