11884101 · 2024-01-30 · ·

An omni-wheel may include a shaft, a plurality of rollers, and a braking device. The plurality of rollers may be circumferentially arranged about the shaft and arranged radially outward from the shaft. The braking device may include a fluid-filled bladder and a plurality of braking pads. The fluid-filled bladder may be circumferentially arranged about the shaft. The plurality of braking pads may be arranged between the fluid-filled bladder and the plurality of rollers. The fluid-filled bladder may expand radially outward when pressurized, displacing the plurality of braking pads radially outward to contact the plurality of rollers, preventing rotation of the rollers.

TREAD BRAKE ASSEMBLY

A tread brake assembly for a rail car includes at least one brake block for pressing against a tread of a corresponding rail car wheel, a piston actuator powered by a fluid for driving the tread brake assembly, a brake rigging for transferring a braking stroke from the actuator piston to the at least one brake block, at least one sensor device for measuring at least one parameter of the tread brake assembly, and the tread brake assembly further includes a stroke detector having an active state in which the stroke detector activates the sensor device, wherein the stroke detector is configured to enter its active state upon detecting a force, stress, strain or motion of the brake block, the brake rigging and/or the actuator.

ZIPLINE TROLLEY WITH A ROLLER BRAKE SYSTEM
20190359234 · 2019-11-28 ·

A zipline trolley brake system comprising trolley rollers, brake rollers, and an arm for controlling the brake rollers, which are connected by a plurality of connectors. The trolley slows and brakes when the arm causes a squeezing motion on the cable by the joint rolling of the trolley rollers and the brake rollers on the cable. The trolley moves when the arm moves to cause the brake rollers not to touch the cable.

Mechanical brake

There is provided an apparatus for applying a braking force to a brake disc using a brake pad. The apparatus comprises a lever configured to rotate about a first fulcrum, and a pressing member attached to said lever and for urging a brake pad against a brake disc. A component is arranged and configured to ensure that said pressing member has a circular translational movement upon rotation of said lever, and a rotatable input member is configured to rotate a first member. In use, rotation of said first member causes movement of an actuating member along an first axis (A), and said axial movement of said actuating member causes said lever to rotate about said first fulcrum for applying a braking force to said brake disc.

Hydraulic bicycle disc brake having twin discrete fluid circuits to opposing cylinders of a caliper
10343743 · 2019-07-09 ·

A bicycle hydraulic disc brake having opposing caliper pistons riding in a pair of opposing caliper cylinders. Each caliper piston is configured to advance a brake pad operatively associated therewith into contact with a disc operatively received therebetween upon delivery of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the respective opposing caliper cylinder. A master cylinder is configured, upon actuation, to deliver pressurized hydraulic fluid to the caliper cylinders. An equalizer is provided in fluid communication with the caliper cylinders, the equalizer being configured to provide an equal volume of pressurized hydraulic fluid to each caliper cylinder upon actuation of the master cylinder.

BRAKE MECHANISM FOR SPHERICAL WHEEL

Implementations relate to a brake mechanism for a spherical wheel. In some implementations, a wheel mechanism includes a spherical wheel and a base coupled to the spherical wheel via a rotary bearing contacting a surface of the spherical wheel, where the rotary bearing is configured to allow the spherical wheel to rotate. The wheel mechanism includes a brake ring coupled to the base and configured to selectively engage and disengage the surface of the spherical wheel, where the brake ring provides friction opposing rotation of the spherical wheel when engaged.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BRAKING MECANUM WHEELS

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for braking mecanum or omnidirectional wheels, by applying force to the rollers of a mecanum or omnidirectional wheel to prevent them from rolling when in contact with the ground or the floor. In some embodiments, it engages the rollers with teeth, rods, or wedges to generate friction and prevent them from rotating. The teeth, rods, or wedges rotate with the mecanum or omnidirectional wheel on the same axle, so the force can be applied and the rollers braked whether the wheel is rotating or not. In some embodiments, the force is applied using a servo or motor to push a thrust bearing, which then engages the rollers. In some embodiments, the servo or motor applies force using one or more gear racks, levers, cam wheels, or mechanical linkages.
